The formidable Rex The Dog returns with his first single for Kompakt in three years, “Change This Pain For Ecstasy”, a slow-burning disco-glitter stomp that’s charged with analogue energy. Pushing his self-built modular hardware set-up to its limits, “Change This Pain For Ecstasy” is taut and thrilling, stripped-back and pulsating, with sweeping chords shimmering through a classic Moroder arpeggio, as a delirious voice sings out a psychedelic raver’s plaint for liberation, pleading for you to "take away my sorrow and this pain”. Deeply emotional, it’s also a masterwork in tension and release, dizzy with snare-rush peaks, and dark, humid valleys where Rex is bound to the patchbay.

On the flipside, Rex gives us “Moto”, which tickles your ear with cymatic phenomena, its gentle vibrations building, beautifully, into a monster-piece of stealth techno. Rex’s DIY synths work overtime as he chases patterns and phases through circuitry, wilding the tones until they erupt into a spray of pointillist pizzicato. The sounds here crackle and corrode, the textures so tantalising, so sensual, you can almost grab hold of them with your hands. It’s great to have Rex The Dog back, making livewire, yet deeply human techno, alive and bursting with electricity.

Opening track „Dance With Ibiza“ by Ugo Banchi with its bouncy groove is like the unison movements of a big crowd of dancers, each individual, but united through the same pulsating beat.
AFFKT’s „Ganbatte“ starts out as a gentle affair with a myriad of tiny plucks, like the dance of luminescent plankton in the dark night ocean, slowly swelling into one big wave.
„Star Wars“ by Matara is a sombre, almost dystopian track - imagine an array of out of control assembly line robots that suddenly gained consciousness and write their own compositions. Precise, effective, futuristic.
And closing off the FTTF29 is „Hypo“ by Carl Bee, a fast paced techno stomper that feels like a perfect storm.

Opening track „This Time" comes from Swedish DJ and producer Fahlberg, who balances melancholy and empowerment into a maelstrom of emotions that take you onto an electronic journey inside yourself.
„Voices of the Synthverse" by Error 401 takes us for a spin with this disco infused house thumper full of sonic surprises. An infectious bassline, energetic piano chords and cheeky bells - this one has it all and more!
Up next is Deomid with „Release Your Power" - a rich blend of retro elements assembled into a modern and powerful composition.
And closing the FTTF34 is „Adventure Time" by Surmillo. The bass grabs you like you fell into the water rapids - but then you manage to stay afloat and race down the river like it's the most exciting ride of your life.

Admittedly, being able to embrace someone back into your life, when they seem to have never left might be a little strange - but that’s exactly how it feels with Âme, one of clubland’s mainstays, consisting of Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann. Case in point: they’re certainly not getting tired of gracing stages big and small with their DJ sets and live performances around the globe, yet “Asa“ actually presents their first original material since three years. Particular track sees the duo on top of their game, as it offers another example of peak time dance floor that is still so much more than just the sum of its components. “Asa“ is big, joyful, euphoric, and sonically adventurous. It relies on repetition, but no single part is allowed to stagnate before everything finally culminates in a symphony of daring synths, driving beats and dueling melodies. It’s a spectacle that might or might not be the musical notification of something way bigger heading our way.
