10 years ago, Canadian veteran RMS flew down to headline a show in Chicago alongside American drum and bass OG Jaybee. Discovering a shared background in hip-hop and turntablism, a friendship was sparked that led to a decade long creative partnership. That initial weekend long studio session in a freezing Chicago basement turned into years of online collaboration from this pair of producers who take huge influence from the late 90s era dnb. 

When RMS & Jaybee submitted their initial demos to Dispatch Recordings it was immediate that they would be the perfect artists for the Dispatch Blueprints series, which it celebrates the heritage sound of drum and bass. Blueprint 1 and 2 have been carefully crafted over several years and represent some of the pair’s best work to date. Whilst the flavour of each producer can be heard throughout each track, their styles gel to create a unique sound that elevates their music to new levels.

With these first two EPs, their music has found the perfect home and we're proud to present this exceptional pair of debut releases for Dispatch.

Mark Archer started his Production career in 1988 when along with Dean Meredith, he ventured up to the newly opened Blue Chip Studio's in his hometown of Stafford.Starting off as a hip hop/sample house group called Rhythm Mode D, they recorded a few tracks for the studio's own label before branching out with different styles including acid house and techno amongst others. Archer was a founder member of Bizarre inc... before starting up a new project under the name Nexus 21 who had a string of releases on renowned labels such as Network and R&S Records (and were famously the first artists to receive a remix by the legendary Carl Craig on their ‘Still (Life Keeps Moving)’ single). At the same time, Mark began a side project, which was to become one of the biggest names in rave history, Altern 8...

In 2017, Command Strange is one of Drum and Bass’ most exciting, unique artists. Now based in Russia, St Petersburg, the producer also known as Alexey Fuifanov, has found himself on some of the scene’s most important labels; from Metalheadz, Good Looking Recordings and Hospital - all the way to the mighty V Recordings where he is now signed exclusively. And the reason? Simply put, Command Strange is one of the most versatile producers we have today.

Whatever the label, Command Strange seems to produce banger after banger, fusing his classic jungle, jump-up and soul inspirations into a musical and original whole. Now 7 years deep into his craft, the Command Strange name has become a byword for guaranteed vibes and musicality.

So where did it begin? After trying his hand at jungle from the age of 7, it wasn’t long before a 16 year old Alexey had attracted the attention of the scene’s most influential tastemakers, with everyone from LTJ Bukem and DJ Marky to Friction, London Elektricity and JJ Frost giving the young producer the thumbs up.

Since then, Command Strange has gone from strength to strength - and that’s one of the reasons why he’s often in the studio with AI. The skillful partnership has proved to be like alchemy, with the guys releasing the huge vocal number ‘Won’t Say Goodbye’ featuring Mc Tali and solo single ‘Brand New Style’ featuring MC Fats on V Recordings - as well as the massive, rolling single with ‘Mad One’ and ‘Broken Grounds’ ft. Jamakabi on Goldie’s Metalheadz label.

In 2016, Command Strange signs to V Recordings, and it represents the ultimate fit for the Russian producer. Still one of the most respected labels in the game, V Recordings remains at the forefront of Drum & Bass, while staying true to its junglist beginnings - so it’s the perfect place for the all-encompassing style of Command Strange.
