Perfectly timed with the opening of the UK nightlife industry, the fifth release on the Milkit label provides a VA compilation of club-ready & emotional cuts. With a focus on breaks and rave nostalgia, the release comprises of works from exclusively Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish artists.

Artist:
As an experimental producer, label owner and mastering engineer, Kevin Halliday has his creative fingers in many musical pies. Under the moniker Denizens, the Kilmarnock man focuses his energies on more industrial and breakbeat soundscapes, occasionally delving into the hardcore side of the genres.

Having released on labels such as ‘The Meaning of Rave’, ‘Archivio01’ and ‘Dark Carousel’, Kevin’s releases are always of the highest quality. With support from the likes of Dax J, Femanyst and Nico Moreno, you know Denizens is a name that means business.

The Track:
Inspired by retro, PS1 soundtracks, this track masterfully combines blissful melodies and synths with strong, broken percussion. While the melodic elements create an ethereal and airy atmosphere, the percussion cuts through with a tangible energy. The artist became fascinated with the unpolished sounds of these classic soundtracks, flipping samples in his works, creating a nostalgic yet futuristic end product. Nice & Deadly are very excited to announce that their 10th release is signed by Philo. Directly from Cologne, she proves you don't need decades of experience to understand and push boundaries of a genre. With national and international recognition, her originally vinyl-exclusive selection has evolved over time into a digital hybrid in the pursuit of the best possible sound. Characteristics of her selection involve rough UK bass, which is somewhere between breakbeat, deep amen atmospheric drum & bass, halftime dubby bassbin jungle and footwork with a splash of classic 90s, as well as house influences according to the maxim "keep moving forward"!

Not long ago she started producing and released her first tune "Zooma Patrol" in cooperation with Moogie Fox on the Berlin label Headlight Records. Since 2020, she's part of Deegree Recordings. And in 2021, together with Marie Montexier and Aino DJ, she founded the event series Précey, which focuses on female and non-binary artists to push the scene in Cologne. She also hosts her radio show on jungletrain.net.

And now, she joins the Nice & Deadly Brazilian family with an incredible EP, including a collab with Moogie Fox and an exciting remix from Static Structures.

Every now and then we get sent new music that offers a different take on familiar genres, and this latest premiere does just that.  UK producer SUPPLY has honed his sound, reimagining the classic sounds of DnB, jungle and grime, all while keeping it soulful. 

Machine Woman’s Take Away Jazz Records imprint has been releasing leftfield electronic and experimental tracks since 2019 and this release 'SL' from SUPPLY is a natural fit. Made up of rolling breakbeats alongside straight up DnB and left-of-centre jungle rhythms, the track we premiere today is 'Tunnel Vision'.  

'Tunnel Vision' nods to the more liquid side of DnB, a drum-funk track at it's core, juxtaposing a jazzy atmosphere and cleverly sampled vocals over a shuffly rhythm. It will no doubt offer a sense of reprise in the middle of a harder set, while keeping the crowd moving. 

‘SL EP’ drops via Take Away Jazz Records on 17th June via their Bandcamp. In the meantime, listen to 'Tunnel Vision' below.
