The second entry in a three-part series of music based around his studio, Ian Pooley’s ‘Studio A Pt. 2’ for Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint sees the bonafide house legend deliver another choice selection of grooving hardware productions.

Leading the A-side is the fluttering synths and warped vocal samples of ‘JV Organ & Matrix’, which twists and turns through delightful FX and rumbling bass. ‘Version 2’ of the track follows, contorting elements of the original into a heads-down groover, with washed-out processing and stereo wizardry meeting classic dub techniques.

On the flip, ‘Back Up’ keeps it live and direct with hard-hitting, chunky drums and menacing acid lines, with an additional stripped back digital ‘Beats Bass’ version included. Rounding out the 12” is 101202, a dreamy slice of razor-sharp house, with gorgeous filtered pads drifting in tandem with strung out low end and skippy percussion.

Active since the early 90s, the German DJ/producer has released on the likes of Force Inc, V2 Records, and his own Pooledmusic, remixing for the likes of Deee-Lite, Carl Cox and many more, as well as being one of the few to be remixed by Daft Punk.

This is SNGVA004 Capital of Peace, Love and Unity, the latest in Sengiley Recordings series of VA compilations. Ten super fresh tracks deviating from the 4-to-the-floor milieu, showcasing Sengiley's passion for all things breakbeat.
Up first is L&F, offering us some bass laden UKG badness, followed by Cabale with a tasty slice of piano and pad infused 2-step. Awlies comes through on a sublime and magical breakbeat tip, while Helter lands some twisted yet delightful breaks and bass business. Neathway & Alter hit the halfway mark of the compilation: a tidy piece of jungle action reminiscent of the genres 90s heyday. Up next is Withheld producing a soulful yet energetic drum and bass stunner, followed by our choice - Charleeps with a transcendent and acidy yet melancholic electro-breakbeat number. Aevasyon delivers some gorgeous, retro-tinged breakbeat vibes and Talihatta brings the energy down with some clever and subtle downtempo. Finally, Citizen Pablo rounds things off creating an ethereal breakbeat track, wrapping up this superb VA.

𝘴𝘉 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸___ Cardiff-based label 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻 keeps expanding its signature sound which is a mix of high energy, sleek percussion and balanced tension. Each release moves within that mysterious space where groove and unease meet, delivering club-ready material that’s dark but never heavy and always sharp in execution.

For its 6th release, 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗿𝗼𝗻 steps in with 5 tracks that capture this direction perfectly. The EP feels fast, fluid and alive driven by restless and various rhythms and a precise sense of motion that keeps the dancefloor locked in. 

"Cold Fusion" channels a hypnotic, late night mood. Fast paced drums and shadowy textures and vocals loop around a weighty bassline, giving a feeling of a controlled and dangerous forward momentum, made for intense moments in the mix.

Originally released in 1994, ‘Internal Empire’ marks a point of transition for Robert Hood moving on from his previous collaborations within Underground Resistance. Robert Hood advanced uncovering the power of true minimalism. Deep soul through a simplicity that showed how much could be done with so little. The devastating rhythms of this album forge the unmatched spirit of this sound, influencing generations to come.

"25 years ago, I was faced with the challenge of following up on 'Minimal Nation’. I cancelled all my tour dates for that summer, setup my studio in the living room and began to work on 'Internal Empire'. My intention was to create something distinctively different.
