The sound of Deltino Guerreiro is the result of his experiences travelling from the north to the south of his country. From soul and r&b to the musical tradition of northern Mozambique, with conscious lyrics in Portuguese, English and Macua, Deltino marks the difference in the Mozambican musical landscape, dominated mainly by rhythms of the south. His melodies reflect the strong influence of Arabic music in the north, sometimes compared to the mandinga melodies of countries like Mali, Gambia or Burkina Faso. Eparaka, from the language Macua, translates as blessing or blessed. This is the first record of this artist from Montepuez, Cabo Delgado and was produced by Milton Gulli (Cacique´97, Cool Hipnoise, Simba & Milton Gulli). 

Deltino Guerreiro - Sonho

The sound of Deltino Guerreiro is a mix of influences, the result of his experiences travelling from the north to the south. Shadow Republik is a creative collective moniker of artist, singer songwriter & producer Rocksteady. The whole concept was based on the idea of having a group of activists from all over Africa uniting and creating a new sonic interpretation of our age, time and space. Shadow Republik is an idea of a creative collective existing in the shadows almost like a anonymously band or should we say the face-less band, the band that's a myth, sort of juxtaposing creative concepts and fusing music and art, beautifying spaces and occupying minds with the right ideas to overcome everyday challenges.

Milton Gulli is no newbie in this game. He has successfully been dropping great music for years with projects in Lisbon such as Cacique´97, Philharmonic Weed, Cool Hipnoise, The Grasspoppers, to name a few, and has produced records for a myriad of artists in Mozambique (Azagaia, Simba, Deltino Guerreiro), where he resides for eight years now. His first solo project is arriving soon and the EP will be called Quotidiano, which roughly translated means everyday. The first single Jogador (transl. player) is a funky synth soul track with a conscious message. It tells the story of an african boy that grows up to be a famous soccer player in the european championships, only to be confronted with the racist and xenophobe slants from european soccer aficionados.

I was inspired by that show on Angolan FM stereo called...''Canta Angola'', where they played many sounds exulting our Angolan culture, in the musicality that is this country. This is a tribute to our elders, who took the Angolan music to another level, with distinction and success overseas, and to the younger generation gaining pace, showing that they too can do it and are willing to pursue the path and the heritage that is far from its end, for it´s emotion is found on the pursuit. From the mountains of Namaacha, in Mozambique, comes one of the most relevant and poignant MCs of Southern Africa. Azagaia is revolutionary, political and an avid critic of the mozambican government. He is censored, boycotted, even was imprisoned on false drug charges. But the fact is that he is the voice of the young generation and respected all over the country. The brazilian edition of Rolling Stone called him a “hero of the people” and in many ways he is the only voice of opposition.
“MIR - Música de Intervenção Rápida” (Rapid Intervention Music) is the new single he wrote after the last demonstration of the veterans of war that was brutally ended by the mozambican police. The Minister of Justice responded saying that sometimes the Human Rights can be violated to protect “higher interests”.
