One half of Scottish duo Clouds, Perth Drug Legend tear off a solo EP of rugged, apocalyptic bloke-techno.

What more can be said about Clouds, young prodigies who have put out as much innovative techno in the past few years than anyone. The story takes a twist with a wealth of material being released by PDL, hot off a remix of Tiga’s Bugatti and releases on Resin and Westend Communications. The sound is reminiscent of Ghost Systems Rave, but there’s the feeling that things have gotten even more refined, something that smacks of a real subcultural movement.

Opener Balquhidder Ruins is a stomping gate-crasher, the tempo pulled back just enough to feel the grit of industrial funk, everything restrained to it’s bare essentials.

Multi Culti’s lucid-lifestyle dreamer Peter Power takes us on a free-wheeling trip to the motherland on AFRO DAMBA.

The Irish-born Voodoohop resident has returned from the jungles of Bahia with a fresh ep of primal party tracks sampling voices and rhythms from across Africa and it’s neighbouring islands, producing what is easily his most club-oriented work to date. Whereas his tracks for Voodoohop were spiritual flute-heart-openers, these are neo-pagan mating-ritual floor-fillers. The rhythm is set to tribal chug, with rollicking percussion, reverb-soaked vocals, and all the fun jangly bells & bits you expect to be hanging off such a well-traveled producer.

If that weren’t enough, we enlisted Romanian-dance-duo Khidja to double-down and remix both Adama Waro and Dansakoni (available as a digital-exclusive). Resident mix-lord Dreems also weighs in with a subtle remix of Dansakoni, gently upping the tempo and tweaking the knobs in selfless service of the original groove.

Shika Shika Collective is proud to present “De aquí hasta aquí”, the debut album by percussionist and producer Federico Estévez.

You may know Fede as the drummer and percussionist for Chancha Vía Circuito´s live band, having made a reputation around the world for his rhythmic virtuosity and trademark broken beats.

Following “Hologramas” the captivating opening track on Shika Shika’s “Mare Insularum” compilation, “De aquí hasta aquí” is Fede’s first full-length release. On it he shares with us his complex, poly-rhythmic universe through nine tracks uniting his own South American origins, with African rhythms and featuring collaborations with Rodrigo Gallardo, Pablo Paz, Wen, Manu Quintans, Klik & Frik and Chancha vía Circuito.

In the words of Pedro Canale a.k.a. Chancha vía Circuito:

“Federico Estévez is one of Buenos Aires' most versatile musicians - at once an incredible producer and formidable percussionist. Curacas, como señala San Quirama, “es el resultado de un juego de sonidos, visiones y conjeturas que surgieron al mirarse para adentro”. A través de este trabajo se materializan sus sentimientos y emociones vividas a través de los diferentes círculos de medicina ancestral con sus emisarios en la tierra. Los Curacas, Taitas, Abuelos, Guías, esos personajes tan imperfectos como serviciales que innegablemente mantienen un equilibrio entre lo etéreo y lo terrenal.

Curacas Ep es un recorrido sonoro a través de los diferentes momentos de una ceremonia ancestral, cada canción evoca una sensación y es una secuencia de la anterior.

Más que un trabajo de etiquetas, es un material honesto que fue creado con el propósito de honrar procesos donde habitualmente surge la pregunta. ¿Dónde habita la magia? ¿En el cómo o la intención? Este Ep llegó como una necesidad de escuchar el alma.
