‘Trouvaille’ is the blissed out upcoming single from Scottish electronic musician Lewis Bigham who records and performs under the moniker Glassmasterer, a name which comes from the final stage in CD duplication, a process known as “glassmastering".

Following on from a collection of singles Glassmasterer returns with another taste of chilled IDM/electronica in the form of the ‘Trouvaille’.

Recorded in his countryside studio, ‘Trouvaille’ gently draws you away from those lockdown cabin fever blues and plants you right in the peaceful wilderness with soothing synth tones and enough glitchy beats to keep you head nodding.

B-side ‘Twenty Red Kites’ is a delightfully ambient segue/vignette: “the title comes from one of my friends describing a trip to an arboretum and they said that they saw “twenty red kites” emerge from the trees. I told her immediately that I was going to use that for a song.”

“Trouvaille is French for “lucky find”, which is how I see a lot of creative inspiration at the minute; having a creative outlet is so important to me at the moment.”

Since 2016, Glassmasterer has released music under a variety of genres including hip-hop, jazz, funk and folk.

After the world was plunged into lockdown, his music took a more introverted and oblique electronic style, releasing the singles ‘Dawn Runner’ and ‘Until The Dust’, and the "virtual concert" film Particles.

All music was recorded and produced by himself in his personal studio Neon Math.

This '92-'24 retrospective from one of the mightiest names in house features unreleased Gabriels + Usher remix exclusives and a special edit of 'Lazy' exclusive to this mix. No-one does chunky house music better and we're delighted to have these history-makers be part of our long-running series. Strap yourself in for a tonking hour.

*How would you describe your sound?*

Our sound is for the dancefloor. Pure and simple. Whether that's the back room of a pub in Colnbrook or a huge mega tech rave in Mexico.

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* 

I guess it's all sorts of music that's influenced us over the years. Going way back to tribal music through Blues, jazz, rnb, reggae, soul, disco, house, techno, classical etc etc. We always go back to early house stuff if we're ever stuck in the studio. Just get back to the raw basics and go again!

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*

This '92224' mix is basically a snap shot of some of the stuff that we, with Ashley for a huge chunk of it, have done or been involved with over the years. From our very first production together ('Muzik Xpress') bang up to the minute with our soon-to-be-released Gabriels remix. Getting this mix together has made me appreciate just how much we've done and makes me feel very proud of what 3 lads from west London have achieved musically. Listening back to it there's definitely a thread that runs through this 32 years of music and I think that hopefully, you can hear those answers to the first 2 questions contained within.
