Echo BlaBla Pilot

Sounds, voices, field-recordings, tracks from Aks Sado emergency residency in Ulugbek, Uzbekistan (2022-2023). This was a spontaneous community that emerged for a brief moment in time due to political turbulence caused by Russian invasion of Ukraine. A group of musicians, artists, activists, who decided to unroot themselves has found a refuge in a house in the outskirts of Tashkent where they created a bunch of records both collaboratively and individually. The trajectories of destinies intersected then, leaving a trace that can now be listened to.

People, goods, policies, ideas are strongly interconnected in our today’s world; images and sounds float through high speed networks, knowledge is instantaneously exchanged between diverse institutions, resources travel through physical space, and people migrate taking their ideas and languages with them. Instead of adopting a bird’s-eye global perspective to approach such flows and movements, “FM-eral” adopts a position on the ground. It examines the localities that are transconnected and may transform when establishing contact zones, whether they are geographically close or distant.
This year’s annual show articulates
such stable or ephemeral translocal-ities in a hybrid, collectively-shaped format: a radio station and a cargo space. “FM-eral” uses radio waves to transcend physical boundaries, resonating with communities and bridging geographical regions. We will be broadcasting 24/7 and have daily live shows between 17:00 and 20:00. “FM-eral” transforms the atelier space into a cargo space where mobile elements allow new relationships to be established again and again between the students’ works. This dynamic approach transforms their objects into a performative experience, engaging audiences in unconventional ways and challenging common ideas of space and connection. We are (t)here!
