I first met @adelakram when we were working at Nachtdigital festival and helped to prepare everything for a beautiful weekend. I do not remember exactly what we were talking about but at one point or another it came to vinyl and tape manufacturing and music producing. We met on the bungalow village every year and I have been starting to follow Adel’s musical output since then because I really love what he does and how he sees the world. Various songs were already on the list of getting released. After the premiere of the play „Who Killed My Father“ for which he composed the soundtrack, he sent it to me to have me listening to it. What more to say. I loved it and soon we realized that we have to release it. Now we are here with a happy smile on our faces and bring you Adel Akram’s Music For Theater. Have a great time listening to it.

Adel Akram - Music For Theater (Kontratape 07)

Panta Rex was introduced to me due to his output on Noorden. When I moved to Cologne I was looking for people to start doing music with and Alex from Noorden introduced me to him. Soon he started to show me more of his music. 

I instantly felt in love with Dyade which is a beautiful song to end a set with that lasted the whole night and is ending when the sun is already shining again. By the way the working title of this beautiful song was dtf-uia.  

Youth in the 90s shows you where Panta Rex got his musical background from and it is a homage back to the golden times after the fall of the wall and all the never ending parties. 

Critter is a club hit with a long build-up and a drop that is unique in its own way, that lets you expect something different and it is also hitting very hard. 

Lares in the end is one of those songs that feels like an old Workshop record. House at its best and with lyrics brought onto point.

Panta Rex - Critter (Kontrapunkt 06)

I have been knowing @tromboneschoenfeld for many years already and following his musical output. It took a while until we found seven new songs from him for you. Now we are back with a little journey that takes you from hidden castles to the Mecklenburgian countryside, from a family party deep into the jungle and under the water. It all ends with a slow and beautiful song where he finally plays his trumpet again. 

The other side of the tape shows you the danceable side of @kadentberlin - „a cute producer from Berlin with original Berliner Schnauze“. It starts with three of his dub techno songs followed by the summer hit Polarity. He then shows you how to have fun with slow drum ’n’ bass. Doctor Ballerton is really slow but energetic in its own way and Synthetic Substitution brings back the summer and lets me want to dance outside again.

I met @loht-vostok in Gabi's and Nestor’s backyard when we we were attending the after hour from the big party we had in Tegucigalpa. He was playing continuously great music that fit the atmosphere and the mood of the last remaining people really well. At one point I wanted to know a song he played and when he revealed me that it was his own song I was sure I wanted to get some of his music to listen to and to play. Weeks later when I was back in Germany and got some of his music, I could not believe in the variety of styles that I was listening to. So the plan was made to release an album and that’s what we have here. A wonderful range of different genres that we bring to you to listen to. Please enjoy.

Loht Vostok - Keme (Kontratape 09)

I’ve first got into contact with Jūra Elena Šedytė’s music last year at Yaga festival. I had the slot to play after her live set and even though I was very nervous I was fascinated by the mood and atmosphere that arose around her music. We got into contact afterwards and the plan to do a release together evolved. After almost a year of planning here we go.
Explore her music with three new songs that lead you on a mesmerizing path through her beautiful musical world. From joyous almost childlike melodies through the wickedness of some people’s thoughts down to the sacred hymns of someones birth or funeral all spiced up with some up-to-date lyrics.

Also Nikita is back with five new songs. Made during the last five years he finally decided to show some of his output on his own label again. Starting with a percussive story-telling tale, continuing to the either melancholic or uplifting atmosphere behind some old trails. When it suddenly gets dark and threatening to an almost killing mood, the story continues in a different region with an easy yet remindful melody until it all continues with a long forgotten relation between two parted-away people.

Tribal drums will appear all over the record. Some might make you feel lost deep into the jungle. Others might make you slow down your car from 150 to Tempo 90. And some feel like the night is over now.

It opens with the majestic and overwhelming Propagate by Humanoid, continues with All True's dirty, harsh and rough Suspended Sisterhood and closes the A-side with Doc Sleep's straightforward, without-compromises MJF.
The B-side comes in a more gentle yet spacey approach. It starts its journey to the universe with Deeper Call by Hedon The Cat followed by a trip back to earth for Carmel & Nikita's summery Nebenan and lifting you back to space with the atmospheric Last Interstellar Transmission by Adel Akram.

Side A features music from Brussel based musician @laura-trance. As the name suggests you can expect passionate and radical trance rhythms combined with lush and mesmerizing singing. Also you do not have to wait for fresh trap beats anymore. Finally it is all mixed with some ambient beats as well. 

Side B comes from Düsseldorf musician @awel-true. Originally a painter, he is finally ready to release some songs from his last ten years of music production and we are now releasing some songs from all over the production period. Tribalistic drum rhythms come together with dreamy synth lines and it all ends in a thunderous, majestic finale.
