From the heart of Swindon, England: CHANEY is back with his second release of 2022. His KOOKOO Records debut, “Pick Me Up” is building fanfare for a brand new 4 song EP “Southwest Soul Club”, releasing March 25th. Chocked-full of classic 80s Funk samples from the likes of iconic artists such as Bohannon, Geraldine Hunt and The Whispers, CHANEY forecasts a bright future for the sound of new-age, Funk based House Music. Previous EP, “Edible” landed him a tightly knit fanbase of Dance Music lovers from local UK listeners, and traction in many major American cities as well. Marketing efforts were a success following “Edible”, leading to an appearance on the Annie Mac-BBC Radio 1 show to record a mix, as well as landing 3 consecutive BBC Radio 1 spins from Sarah Story, Danny Howard and Pete Ton on the day of release. Single “Pick Me Up” is releasing March 11th 2022.

CHANEY - Pick Me Up

After an eventful summer, Montreal-born DJ The Holy announces the release of his highly anticipated second EP, VORTEX.

The EP features two new songs, All About and Roll With, accompanying his previous tracks One Time and Plantera, which have garnered support from some of the biggest names in international electronic music such as David Guetta, Jamie Jones, Meduza, Benny Benassi, amongst many others.

The power and insatiable energy of his signature sound is truly present on his two new compositions. The song All About, which he premiered at Montreal's infamous Piknic Electronik in front of an electrifying crowd last July, features deep, punchy bass ripples, a driving martial cadence and spirited vocals. Roll With showcases a more melancholic tonality with its punctuated and spacious tribal sounding melodies carefully accompanied by his typical driving steady beat.

The Holy doesn't hide his production influences: the underground house and techno scene of the 90's fuelled by its numerous illegal raves as well as the Y2K era with the arrival of superstar DJs such as Darude, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers and Benny Benassi have always been a source of inspiration for him. He believes that the purity of visceral emotion shared in electronic music of that era is even more relevant today in the context of a pandemic.

"The many confinements we've gone through have created a sickly isolation among the general population," Holy observes. "My production perspective was based on the idea that as soon as the shows, festivals and collective life as a whole would resume, people would have a thirst to come together in community to experience strong, true and unfiltered emotions."

The bet paid off: The Holy played to a packed house in New York City earlier this summer, electrified the Mural festival last June, and delivered a memorable performance in front of one of the biggest crowds of the summer as a headliner for Piknic Electronik. 

The Holy's goal with Vortex is simple: to draw the audience into a groove where instinct and sublimity take control of their emotions.

And that, he does with brilliance.

KOOKOO RECORDS continues their summer rollout with Boston Bun and “TSIFY”. A buzzing take on Bohannon’s “A Happy Song For You” the track gets sped up and spun out into a danceable delight. The song features bright guitars paired with a punchy kick and bass, which get hi-passed and layered with a vibrant new synth line to get us ready for the drop. The track is perfectly on brand for Boston Bun, playful and fun with a distinguished house flair. The track is set to be released on August 19th.

Boston Bun is a Billboard Top 10 dance charting artist who has worked with the likes Cassius, Disciples and Mark Ronson, with Ronson inviting Boston to play at his famed Club Heartbreak in Paris and London.

Pat Lok is back for more house madness on KOOKOO RECORDS with “Lasting Luv” - a vortex of melody and rhythm that transports us to another dimension. Complete with a catchy synth hook, soulful sax lines and sample chops hit us from all angles which delightfully daze us into dancing bliss. Lok’s signature blend of R&B, disco and house comes alive on this track, bringing a cheerful dance flair to a soulful ballad.

The Holy is back with another wave of releases set for 2022 on KOOKOO AFTER DARK, and he’s bringing a heater just in time for summer. First up is “One Time” - an infectiously groovy tune, with a hypnotic kick that pulls you in immediately and does not let up. As the song progresses, layers of syncopated hi-hats, arpeggiated riffs, synth stabs, and deep gut churning bass add texture and dynamics that would make antiperspirant sweat. The tune is reminiscent of the 90s rave scene of which The Holy was born and bred - you get into the club and each minute sends you deeper into a transient bliss. One Time is the first track leading up to an EP set to be released at the end of the summer.
