‘Golden Moments’ is the second single from Quiet Dawn’s new album ‘The First Day’. Following on from last year’s debut single ‘New Dawn’ (featuring Oddisee), the track features a sultry vocal performance from Sarah Gessler. With a shuffling jazz-tinged beat and layered synths, it showcases all the elements that make Quiet Dawn such a compelling producer.
Label-mates Souleance have been enlisted on remix duties, taking the original and adding kicks, handclaps, elastic bass and synths to create the kind of club-friendly cut that they are rightly famed for. Look out for the full album next month, which includes collaborations with Miles Bonny (MPM) and Theory Hazit as well as remixes from Ohmega Watts and Lil’ Dave.

The EP opens with title track «Whoop»: a progressive drum-fuelled slice of house, before the « aperitif » on a large sunny terrace in the South of France, girls dancing all night long to the subby sensual bump of «Rosé Glaçon». It ventures into deeper territory with «That Jazz», and is rounded out with two straight-ahead dancefloor bangers. «Busted» hits hard and blows your brain into dancefloor vertigo whilst the old-school stirring hook of «Chooped by Steps» twists your hips so your shoulders can’t resist: instant classics.

At this time of year we're all looking for those tracks to set alight the parties, festivals and beaches of the summer season. Last year Souleance's 'Jogar' EP filled that gap, this time around they have delivered once again with the addictive, brassy bounce of 'Secoue'. Taking their influence from the Haitian style of meringue known as Compa, Fulgeance and Soulist have crafted an instant dancefloor bomb. 'Secoue' translates to 'Shake' which is about as appropriate a title as you're going to get.

Memoirs of Dayne Jordan chronicles Dayne Jordan's personal and musical path. “In Progress,” the opening chapter of this autobiographical project, sets things up by touching on working at Foot Locker while developing his lyrical skills to launching on the scene with a co-sign from and tour with Lupe Fiasco when using the moniker Dosage.

“Prior to this album, there was a lot of confusion in reference to who I am, where I come from, and what I am about,” states Dayne. “Jeff provided the perfect sonic canvas for me to paint on.”

DJ Jazzy Jeff is an integral part of his career and the album’s producer, his first full-length project since 2007's The Return of the Magnificent. Jordan also tours the globe acting as Jeff’s MC.

Jeff states, “It's rare when you work with someone who is as pure and focused as Dayne... this was hands down the most enjoyable project I've ever done.”

The remainder of the album covers his childhood in North Philly, his early experience with women, eventually becoming a father, tapping into his creative potential and more. It is supported by Jeff’s production that ranges from gentle to hard driving depending on the topic at hand, much like the score for a movie. He dips into classic sounds while remaining modern throughout.

It’s an ambitious project: an intimate introduction to an artist that reveals his journey, the good and the bad.

After The Rain (Juillet 2015)

From a small town in Normandy hails the beatsmith, DJ and Musique Large Records boss, Pierre Troel (a.k.a Fulgeance, Claude and one half of Souleance alongside Soulist).

Whereas Fulgeance’s tracks can sometimes be defined by a headier, more thrashy temperament, a different sonic undertaking is also explored by Troel when producing under his Claude moniker, illustrated by our track of today “That Jazz”. This bouncy-yet-smooth sound exemplifies house music’s jazzier (hence the apt song name), purple-tinged temperaments; a style frequently emanating from Berlin-based imprints such as Tartelet, Money $ex Records and Box aus Holz. It’s therefore not very surprising that the EP’s final track is a dreamy synth remix by Tartelet and Money $ex affiliate, Glenn Astro. Here’s hoping that more collaborations are underway.

Claude’s Whoop EP drops in full, both digitally and on vinyl, on 25th September.
