When I set out to design an acoustic stompbox back in 2008, I had a few criteria in mind. I wanted something that was simple and easy to used. Also, since it would be stomped on night after night, it had to be extremely durable. Lastly, it absolutely had to sound like a kick drum. After countless prototypes and gigging it out live, I finally came up with the ToeKicker. 

It has a passive pickup that I make here in the shop that does not require batteries. It has a 1/4" mono instrument cable output that you can run through a DI box, to an amp, or directly to a sound board. All you have to do is tap your toes and it will produce a deep kick drum sound. (Provided that what you are running it through can reproduce a deep bass frequency. A small acoustic amp isn't going to cut it. If a kick drum won't sound good through it, then the ToeKicker wont either. Remember.....I designed it to sound like a kick drum.)

I handcraft these from solid red oak lumber. The feet are steel reinforce rubber. The finish is the same finish that hardwood floors get.  It is designed to take some punishment. I also back these up with a "Lifetime" warranty. That's right, "LifeTime". If anything ever goes wrong with it, send it back to me and I will repair or replace it free of charge. 

It isn't just a block of wood with a pickup in it. It is designed with a hollow tone port in the center of the stompbox where the pickup is. This creates a drumlike structure that really brings the low frequencies to life.
