As the mind and body continue through cycles of death and rebirth, they lose the ability to imagine sight when their eyes are closed. To KERUB, Aphantasia means forgetting, forgiving, and finding solace in that we cannot change. A follow up to their 2023 album ‘MIN’, Aphantasia bridges the gaps between genres, hybridizing experimental and pop sounds in visceral and beautiful ways. Created to be enjoyed on the dance floor and alone in your room, these 10 tracks span soft elegance to breakbeat fantasies pushing through the boundaries of genre using KERUB’s unique songwriting and production approach.



Aphantasia pulls KERUB closer to pop music than ever before, but still treating it with the same level of irreverence that they are known for. Production wise KERUB draws from breakbeats, acid techno, experimental club and hyperpop to surround vast harmonies and avant-pop stylings. Aphantasia was made to interrogate KERUB's obsession with the underground, and revitalize a vision of their own style and self. Marking their first time releasing on an independent label, KERUB views their sophomore release as a congregation of worlds, and ultimately as a way forward.

KERUB - APHANTASIA

Children Born with No Faces unfolds as an audio exorcism. In recessed shadows lurk not external monsters but what has been disavowed within. Drawing from a palette of jagged percussion, spectral synths, snarly subs; each track stages a crisis of boundary: between self and other, desire and revulsion, pain and pleasure. In this sound, these boundaries blur, collapse, and are reconstituted — distorted textures bleed through like psychic wounds that never quite close. This is not horror for spectacle — it is horror as ontology.

@mezrab is a 30-years-old music producer, audio engineer, and software engineer who was born and raised in Tehran. He has collaborated with top influential Persian Hip-Hop artists like REZ, Ali Sorena, Bahram, Dariush, Navid, and ... as a music producer and audio engineer since 2008. Besides his Hip-Hop works, he also has a passion for sound design and is interested in experimental electronic music. Mez’Rab is also co-founder of Jaryan magazine, which focuses on promoting electronic and Hip-Hop music in Iran.

@muqataa is an electronic musician and MC based in Ramallah, Palestine. Creating sounds using sampled material, field recordings, and electronic devices, the results range between harsh beats, abstract tones, and glitch. He co-founded the Ramallah Underground Collective  [2002-2009]. Muqata'a is also co-founder and member of the sound and image performance group Tashweesh alongside artists Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme. He has released several solo albums including; Inkanakuntu (2018) on Discrepant, Dubt Al-Ghubar (2017) on Third Type Tapes, La Lisana Lah (2017), and Hayawan Nateq (2013). Muqata’a has composed several film scores, as well as scores for dance-theatre performances, and is now working on different collaborative and solo projects.

Sepand is a DJ and music enthusiast who started his musical journey in the underground party scene of Tehran in 2012. He has an unwavering passion for music and began hosting and playing get-togethers with friends and local music collectors. Over time, Sepand's DJing style evolved, embracing the pulsating rhythms of energetic and positive dance music. He has a growing love for vinyl and took to the turntables, enthralling audiences across Tehran at various events and parties. Sepand draws inspiration from the far reaches of the globe and delves into the realm of rare groove music, creating an extraordinary sonic experience for his listeners. Nastaran Rezaee (@nastaran-rezaee-71096361) was born in 1994. At the age of 15, she started playing the Dulcimer. She graduated in textile design from Tehran University of Art and started her clothing brand called Mahee Style in 2016. Her interest in electronic music led her to seriously start learning it in 2018 with Nima Zoobin. She started working with basic equipment and synthesizer to make electronic music and recorded her first DJ set live in 2020. Her interest in funk and house music can be well understood from her sets. NASTY FISH is a podcast for sending her vibes to audiences. She has played for radios like Refuge Worldwide, The Crate, Seol radio, and United We Stream on ARTE.
Her set for ANTiPODE included soulful house and all the way through to rolling techno.

@ephemeral_objects is an interdisciplinary artist, DJ, VJ based on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, also known as Vancouver, Canada. She is half of i+eo an audio/visual duo project with IHA. She is also a resident of Acceleration Radio. True to her name, her visual creations carry this sense of ethereality, focusing on textures and organic forms, both ephemeral and suspended in time at once. ephemeral objects has created music videos for forward-thinking electronic music producers and labels, such as Mood Hut and NAGA. In 2024, she was invited as one of ten emerging Canadian artists to participate in MUTEK Montréal's first Incubator program.

@aliphi (b. Tehran, Iran) is a computer artist & creative technologist with a background in environmental engineering sciences & experimental cinematic arts based in Toronto, Canada.
His experiences in media arts started with the project ‘Elemaun’ in 2008 by audio-visual performances.
Exploring rituals & roots in Persian art, culture and architecture have affected his creations by taking motifs from the old era of Persia, the forgotten essence of Iran & middle-eastern lifestyle to build his futuristic utopia.
He is the founder of 'NULLSIGHT', a media art collective & design studio.
He has performed and exhibited his works in international festivals like Ars Electronica, Tasmeem Doha, Mutek, Patchlab & Tadaex beside several group exhibitions, solo shows and public media art installations.

Farzaneh Nouri, aka Pher(@phernoori), is an Iranian musician, composer and sound artist. She graduated from art university of Tehran with a degree in cinema studies.
Farzaneh studied piano, cello and composition in Tehran-based private music schools and in 2012, started exploring electronic music and finally moved to the Netherlands to study Sonology in the royal conservatoire of the Hague.
Pher has performed live in concerts, AV shows, electroacoustic ensembles, and has written music for film and theatre plays. Concerned with interdisciplinary ideas, she works with creative coding, firmware design, and live electronics to compose her pieces.
Her current research is on employing genetic algorithms and evolutionary computation to create an intelligent composition structure.
