Poor Kids O.C. - Miss Universe

Schimmel are a punk band (based in the german Ruhr area), which stands in the tradition of uncommercial DIY culture. Active for almost ten years, they are primarily seen at illegal concerts held under highway bridges or in basement rooms of secret clubs between Essen-Frohnhausen and Dortmund. Since their first album, produced by Peter Rubel and Pedro Crescenti (International Music), they have moved away somewhat from garage punk and now sound more grown-up - comparable to the gloomy postpunk of early Die Nerven.

With this album from the depths of their living room, kotzschmerztablette scratches at the borders between sadness, despair and raw energy. Front person Jana sings honest lyrics with an appropriate amount of indignation against obvious and hidden social low points of our time. Punk, or something like it, with fragile melodies and wavy synth. Eight songs for the heart, head and fist, lovingly recorded and produced in DIY style.
