Kopstuk: Music Producer, Performer, and Mentor for Young Talent

Kopstuk, the stage name of Rakesh, is a multifaceted musician who has made his mark both on stage and behind the scenes in the music world. As an experienced producer, live performer, and founder of the talent platform New Hearts, he combines his passion for music with a deep commitment to inspiring and guiding young artists.

For over twenty years, Kopstuk has been known for his sharp productions and dynamic live energy. His musical journey began as a hip-hop DJ in the 90s, eventually evolving into a pioneer of electronic music. Over the years, he has moved countless dance floors across the Netherlands and beyond. Highlights of his career include performing with Soulscum at the Free Your Mind Festival and an international appearance at the Winter Music Conference (WMC) in Miami.

In recent years, Kopstuk has expanded his musical horizons with Klaridub, a unique soundsystem rooted in dub techno but ultimately evolving into the deep, soulful vibes of roots reggae. Klaridub is more than just music; it’s an experience that puts the craftsmanship of a fully self-built soundsystem in the spotlight. Every component of this system is hand-designed, constructed, and fine-tuned to bring out the full richness of the deep basslines and hypnotic grooves. This fusion of technical precision and musical depth brings the essence of reggae and dub to life.

Klaridub embodies Kopstuk’s musical journey: starting with the futuristic sounds of dub techno, his passion and curiosity led him back to the genre's origins in roots reggae. Each performance blends the minimalist structures of dub techno with the rich traditions of reggae, creating a one-of-a-kind and immersive live experience.

In addition to his work as a performer and producer, Kopstuk actively supports young talent. As the founder of New Hearts, a platform for talent development, he provides opportunities for young musicians and creatives to hone their skills and showcase their abilities. He also teaches in schools, sharing his extensive experience and knowledge to inspire the next generation of artists.
