If you've listened to the previous sessions you'd probably noticed that most of the playlists end with a few tunes from the Studio One Label. Well, these are all the tunes compiled into one Studio One Rub-a-Dub session.
Every tune featured was produced and arranged by the legendary Clement Seymour 'Sir Coxsone' Dodd @ his recording facilities at 13 Brentford Road, Kingston 5 - The Jamaican Recording and Publishing Studio which opened in 1963.
Throughout the 1960s, Studio One was considered the University of Jamaican music. It was the studio where the majority of Jamaica's most prestigious musical artists got their start. 
Studio One released some of the most significant and enduring Jamaican records of all time and created a series of rhythm tracks that would serve as the foundations of songs for decades. 
Coxsone’s most popular tracks were always recycled and re recorded in a musical tradition built on borrowing and collaborating.

Jah Gumby , bass player of Ooklah The Moc and mastermind of Father Pslams Studio, put together an all 12" vinyl singles mix of his most influential Greensleeves Records to celebrate Greensleeves 40th anniversary. Gumby, an avid record collector, selectah and all around soundman, heavily influenced the reggae sound in his home, Hawaii with his unique blend of Dub, Vintage Dancehall, and Hawaiian influences. This mix showcases Gumby’s rootikal style paying homage to the sonic soundscape of the late 70’s dancehall, reggae, dub sound that Greensleeves captured so well in the productions by Junjo Lawes and Linval Thompson. Jah Gumby continues to carry the torch for Greensleeves in Hawaii with his love and passion for Jamaican music and culture.

Foundation Dub (Heavy 70s and 80s Dub from Jamaica)

This ‘Love Rockers’ mix offers up a blend of Lovers Rock, Reggae Soul, covers and general Reggae Love songs, giving the listener an all round warm summer loving vibe.

Throughout 2020 I opened my ear to more of the sub-genres and off shoots of reggae. Adam Prescott dropped his ‘Soul Adventures Mixtape’ in late-2019 and I had that on steady rotation through 2020. I’ve been really digging the U.K. Lovers Rock sound pioneered by Dennis Bovell.

Athens of The North and Emotional Rescue have been reissuing some gems that have helped me explore the Lovers Rock sound more, along with a taste of Disco Reggae.

The last track of the ‘Love Rockers’ mix is a contemporary cover of a disco track which will lead this mix into a part 2 ‘Disco Rockers’ mix at some stage.
