Après vous avoir remercié d’être de plus en plus nombreux à me suivre dans cette aventure musicale, laissez moi vous présenter le 4ème volet de mon projet Collection.

Même s’ils sont tous hauts en couleurs, variés en termes de provenances, de styles et d’époques, chacun des voyages que je vous propose a un cachet qui lui est propre et qui fait écho aux autres compilations de la série. 

Après avoir réuni tous les sons de cette quatrième sélection, je me suis rendu compte que ce sont surtout les années 2000 qui sont ici à l’honneur… et que ce nouvel opus a un fil conducteur très cinématographique. 

En effet, j’y propose quelques musiques utilisées dans des films grands publics tels que Les Gardiens de la Galaxie ou Mad Dog. J’y associe des mises en scène bruitées, à l’instar de l’introduction du mix représentant le hall d’un théâtre lors de l’entrée du spectacle, ou cette ambiance de gare et de trains qui tire un trait d’union entre Nightmares On Wax et la fabuleuse chanson de Diana Ross “Love Hangover” remixée par Frankie Knuckles.

Pour accentuer cette facette, les mélodies de tous les titres choisis font passer l’ambiance de la joie à la mélancolie et le montage raconte une riche histoire qui pourrait vous inspirer des images et des scènes. 

Les versions tantôt acoustiques, tantôt remixées, tantôt reprises par d’autres artistes, créent le décalage et l’appétence que je veux porter dans mon projet, en permettant de vous faire redécouvrir des thèmes et des chansons gravés dans nos esprits. 

Je vous encourage à écouter ce nouveau voyage musical jusqu’à son terme, car je le clôture par un mashup osé, dans lequel j’expose un montage entre un morceau de house percutant et puissant de 2019 et un thème que j’affectionne particulièrement de J.S Bach composé en 1730.

Je vous souhaite une belle aventure et - je l’espère - de bonnes découvertes.

Tel Aviv's Nenor has released on the most illustrious of imprints like Moodymann's Mahogani Music, Dam Swindle's Heist Recordings, Strictly Rhythm and Defected, with a wide-ranging house sound fusing clever sampling with the sounds of vintage gear and rare synths.

He arrives on Burnin Music with a stunning quartet of deep grooves ready for balmy summer daze and nites.

The title track jams along with insistent Rhodes chords and dubby chords and drum fills that give a nod to his time spent living and recording reggae musicians in Jamaica, while 'Side Effect' heads into dreamier territory with its chuggy tempo, '70s film score strings, twinkling electric pianos and guitar glissandos.

'Start It Up' recalls golden age hip-hop with its taut drum break and melancholy key scales and chords, and 'Green Time' finishes off in beguiling style with a hypnotic and darkly-tinged tribal rhythm.

After the House and Techno Breaks provided by Hector Ram in the second release of the label (SA002), The Ram Fam are now given the task of bringing together artists with a long history in the classic House scene, as well as very active and constantly growing names within the underground, resulting in a 4-track ‘VA’ full of Deep House that promises a fidelity to the roots of the sound of this genre.

From electro bass lines and deep soulful atmospheres to harmonic piano keys, the work and passion of the artists Boo Williams, Kai Alcé, Owen Jay, Melchior Sultana and Hector Ram fit together in a perfect sense of mutual influences for the SA003.

Boo William's 'Transformation' is a smooth and chord-laced house roller that has a more reflective vibe than his usual party-starting offerings. Atlanta don Kai Alce's 'Love Exists' is a heartfelt house romance then the long-time partnership of Owen Jay & Melchior Sultana douse us in star-gazing chords on 'Soul Expression' that leave you feeling refreshed. Hector Ram's 'Morning Sun Vibes' then uplifts with beautifully gentle piano chords.

This composition is eight minutes of pure sonic bliss with organic synths, trumpet parts, energetic chorus, intertwined with a touch of Afro soul. It must me mentioned that this is a future classic that should be purchased on sight!
