I just found out my remix of Tevo Howard's "Boing Pop" has been included - without my approval - on the Hed Kandi Beach House 2014 compilation. I usually feel honoured when my music is selected for these types of things but I mean Hed Kandi is this total horror-conglomerate that uses retarded imagery drawn straight from the sexual fantasies of horny twelve year old boys to pimp a very sad idea of house music to the masses, so this time I just feel depressed. What's worse is that the owner of Rebirth (the label who originally released my remix) edited the track - again without my approval - into something shorter and clumsier, completely fucking up the flow of the music. Please don't support this bullshit - if you like the tune, you can now download it (the real version) from my Soundcloud page, free of charge. Enjoy!

The Munich based duo Coeo are the stars of our fourteenth release. Florian Vietz and Andreas Hopfl have presented us with three original tracks with nice and special character. Closer EP is definitely a landmark release for us at Lagaffe Tales which challenges us to follow up with this new standard in the following future. The title track Closer is the star of the release. What stands out if the great percussion work and hauntingly beautiful vocal sample, whispering into our ears. As if the original track was not enough, we were lucky to get one of our biggest influences; Lay-Far to remix the track. The remix takes the percussion work to the next level and still staying true to the original mix. Lay-Far does not disappoint and makes sure that we connect memories we hold dear to the track. Mind Games is a beautiful piece with a tight baseline and enchanting piano atmosphere.  The duo bring to the table another beautiful piano sampling piece in the third track Timid Dancer. The whole EP has encouraged us to work harder and to grow in the right direction as a label.

It's been a happy spectacle watching our friends at Lobster Theremin grow into the pink-bellied beast we see before us today. Their following has grown almost as quickly as their roster, snowballing via a release schedule that's as strong as it is frequent: a consistently welcome serve-up of Motor City-inspired house, dreamscape acid and narcotic techno. 

Late last year, Camp Lobster drilled deeper into the spectrum with Mörk, the label's darkling sub-imprint and home to its gloomiest techno. This week they inaugurate a new imprint, Distant Hawaii – a summer off-shoot for beach-coasting sunshine house. And its first release is exactly that: a wonderfully deep debut for Manchester man Hidden Spheres. 'Waiting' is our pick of the litter: a glowing thumper that's all butter-melt Rhodes lines, ecstatic vocal whoops, and tons of playful percussion. The perfect summer jam, basically – coming to a terrace near you very soon.

 Born in Brooklyn, New York, Alexander East has been making music all his life. When he was young he taught himself how to play many different musical instruments and sing. His voice is one of the most recognized voices in house music due to his prolific output with some of the best producers in the game over the years. After spending his early years in the recording studio, he learned how to produce and engineer his own works. Alexander has now made a name for himself on a world wide scale with appearances on many respected record labels including his own Planet East Recordings. His voice is known the world over in house music circles, and he brings that world class sound to his remix.

Starting his off a little slower, a little more laid back. It comes in using some great shaker percussion that takes its time to lead you into the music, kinda takes ya on a stroll to a peaceful waterfall. It builds gently, gathering steam and energy and before long a full on groove has arrived in force and you are definitely heading to the dancefloor.  For his bassline, he has steered into the more techy side of things, with a little afro soul flair in there as well. His engineering on the bassline is a more modern tech approach, with a more driving feel, a great bounce, and lays a solid foundation. The pieces come together seamlessly, and it bumps and shimmies and makes ya wanna move your feet.  The swirling vocal has been used to create a beautiful atmosphere, swirling around up above, while he brings in the dusty keys and swingin hi-hats he is known for. Combine that with his rock solid musical ability, this track attains some solid techy vibes with a side of soulful house for flavor.   Alexander's studio chops are on full display with his drums and song construction and energy.   All three tracks have their own flavor and distinct vibe. Each made with a love for house music that runs deep in the veins of everyone involved. The passion shines through loud and clear with the latest offering from Housetown Recordings. Two years ago I played at Studio 9 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The following day I missed my flight home and ended up spending an extra day, which gave me a chance to explore the city with my friend Linus, who took me to the Contemporary Art Centre. It was there I spotted a book named ‘Rojus’, that Linus told me translated as ‘Paradise’. The word and striking cover of the book stuck in my mind. A few days after returning home, I turned on to a National Geographic documentary named ‘Designed To Dance’, explaining the courtship rituals of Birds Of Paradise. As I watched, i jokingly began drawing similarities between these birds’ attempts to captivate and impress the opposite sex with dance, and the way strangers try to attract one another in clubs and interact on the dance floor. This gave me the idea of creating a record of functional club music, sequenced as if it were a club night, from doors to closing, using samples of these Birds Of Paradise and their habitat. Thus, Rojus.

Reworking a big tune is never a simple task, especially if after 7 years the tune in question is still one of the highlights in
shows of one of the worlds most beloved live act performers, KiNK.
That’s only half of the story though, as the tune got a lot of love from so many DJ’s all over the globe.
However, for the 17th burek release, we wanted to do something really special and what could be better than giving new
life to a piece of music which literally gave life to our label. And we gathered some very interesting people for the job.
A1 KiNK - Leko (Kink’s Bass Shake Version) is a rework by none other thank KiNK himself. The original is a party
monster as it is, so Strahil opted for an alternative approach that sheds an interesting light on a familiar song. Huge
resonating bassline

A2. In 2013 KiNK had an successful E.P. with Rachel Row called Follow The Step which had a major impact on both of
their careers. Later while touring with Rachel she had an idea to put some vocals on top of the first Leko track, which
now turned into a completely different, slow track with the familiar piano melody.

B1 KiNK - Leko (Session Victim Remix) is a wonderfully subdued take on the original. It keeps all the main elements we
all know and love, and enriches them with a more percussive feel, well placed guitar licks and an overall easier mood. All
that said, don’t make a mistake with thinking this is something for the living room as this one’s made for those special
daytime/sunset/sunrise moments when a tune like this turns the situation into something everyone will take home with
them.
B2 KiNK - Leko (Original Version) is the tune, in all it’s glory and attitude. Full-fledged peak time house track which turns
every party into a steaming pit of bodies asking for more. Too hot to ignore.
