Just hours after the relaunch of Payday Records, the iconic record label has released its first song “Our Streets” featuring legendary producer DJ Premier and A$AP Ferg, which is available today via digital retailers everywhere. “Our Streets” is the first song released by hip-hop and EDM pioneer Patrick Moxey’s newly relaunched record label. DJ Premier is reunited with former Gang Starr manager Moxey as the first artist to release music on Payday Records. 

“Our Streets” is a true New York hip-hop track, combining DJ Premier’s signature beats and A$AP Ferg’s versatile style to create a classic, raw and energetic sound. The song marks the first time the legendary DJ and rap star have worked together, despite both being prominent figures of the New York hip-hop scene for years. 

“It's a dream to be able to work with the legendary DJ Premier on this record” stated Ferg. “Preemo has worked with all the NYC hip hop icons and greats - Nas, Biggie, Guru, Hov, KRS-one, and The Lox. Just knowing I was working with him pushed me as an MC.” 

"With Ferg, or anybody I work with, they already know my history so they know that I come from the 90s era” DJ Premier said. “Ferg just automatically said 'Don't do what I've been doing on my albums - I want you to do a Preemo style and let me show I can rap to that,' so I was like 'let's do it.' Everybody was happy off jump - no suggestions, no 'I think we should go this direction' - it was an automatic in, out, done, in one day." 

“Our Streets” is available now, and is the first song released by the newly relaunched Payday Records. Patrick Moxey, who is the President and Founder of Ultra Records, Ultra Music and Ultra International Music Publishing, originally formed Payday Records in New York City in 1992. Payday was the first record label to sign Jay Z, releasing his first single “In My Lifetime” in 1995. Other artists signed to Payday throughout the 90s include Jeru the Damaja, Mos Def (via his first group U.T.D.), Showbiz & A.G., Group Home, Guru, WC and the Maad Circle and more. DJ Premier played an integral role in Payday throughout the 1990s, bringing artists like hip-hop duo Group Home and rapper Jeru the Damaja to Payday for release, and producing a number of the label’s biggest hits including “Come Clean,” and “Supa Star.”

Powerful, infectious and oh-so-timely in its lyrical subject matter, ‘The Only Difference’ is the first single introducing ‘Heavy Rocking Steady’, the forthcoming album from Beatchild & The Slakadeliqs.

Modern soul music performed and arranged in the truest R&B tradition, songwriter Byram Joseph (aka Slakah The Beatchild) is joined on lead vocals by fellow Canadian artist Justin Nozuka whose clean, pure vocal tone lends a new dimension to the song. A forceful call for unity in these uncertain times, ‘The Only Difference’ is driven by dusty piano and rattly acoustic drums, soon joined by a chorus of backing vocals, giving the track a distinctly live feeling.

Korry has gone back to his more musical roots in funk, soul, electronic, blues and jazz music. With stronger artistic capabilities, he uses theses influences and fuses them together to produce his own distinct musical blend of hip hop.

On his debut album with versatile rap group IRS, "Welcome To Planet Irs" (Universal Music), Korry Deez stretched rap's boundaries by creating a masterpiece. This led to a Juno nomination for best rap recording in 2004 and their album, to this day, is considered to be a Canadian classic. 

Maybe his most memorable moment then was his verse on the Kardinal classic "Ol' Time Killin", where he effortlessly blesses a hip hop quotable type verse. The video for "Ol' Time Killin" was directed by the highly acclaimed Mr. X, and it gained international exposure; airing on MTV, BET, MuchMusic, etc.

IRS went on to being 'Rated Next' on BET with their smooth, bumping groove "T.R.A.C.K.S.' Lament" The song garnered them even more major label distribution and indy label success with Sony/RED and Avatar in the US. Deez has collaborated with renowned producers: Jake One, Rich Kidd, Elaquent, Tone Mason, Lancecape, Mr. Attic, and Lyve, plus featured on numerous other songs and compilations over the last decade.

Korry Deez has finally returned with his first solo album, 'Imago'. On the album, he unravels from a cocoon-like state and shows a growth and maturity few in music could replicate today. 'Imago’ puts him in the conversation of who to be watching for in an ever-changing world of music.
