Tiga lines up the next EP on his Turbo sub label, Twin Turbo and in doing so follows up a string of successful records from the likes of Harvard Bass, Phil Kieran and Zombie Nation with a bold and driving EP from Dirtybird and Hypercolour affiliate - Kill Frenzy. Throughout his catalogue, the Belgian born and Berlin based producer has melded rich atmospherics with potent drums and infectious vocal samples and this - his ‘Crystal Seed’ EP is one fans both old and new will relish. 

The title track kicks things off with warped, tubular bass tone set tumbling under brash hats and a piercing clap. Nifty drum fills punctuate progress as filters drive towards a rapturous crescendo before ‘Follow Me’ sets pitched vocals and scattered 808 hats off to a menacing march. Drums are given a distinct Turbo feel as they’re deftly flanged and overdriven and set atop a swelling bass groove that rolls until the close of another fine addition to the Twin Turbo catalogue.

Amsterdam based Sinchi is a multi-faceted platform, including a DJ collective, event promoter, mix series, blog and now label. The new not-for-profit label will pledge the profits from each release to a hand-picked charity and kicks off with a fresh single from Leonor, featuring remixes from Curses and Sascha Funke.

Profits from the first release will be benefiting The International Elephant Foundation, an NGO which focuses on protecting the severely endangered Asian elephant and the threatened African elephant. They support programs that protect elephants, habitat, and the villagers that live with elephants in their “backyards” by reducing human-elephant conflict.

The artist behind the single is Leonor, a DJ and producer from Guadalajara, Mexico who now resides in France. An upcoming star, he has released on Nein Records, Toolroom, and Tom Tom Disco while charting in top positions on Beatport and Juno. He is rapidly making a real impact on the scene and in heavy demand as both dj and producer.
His fantastic single here is an organic and inventive track littered with the sound of jungle wildlife, indigenous percussion and vocal chants and loose house drums. Big claps and raw loops help build the pressure making for a sure-fire bomb that will detonate any floor.
First remixer is Curses, the New Yorker based in Berlin, known for blending rock & roll with the darker side of disco on labels such as Bordello A Parigi, Throne Of Blood, and Ombra International. The Rinse FM France resident brings all that to his haunting, chugging, macho disco remix, which has slapping hits and low slung bass all making you move.

Then comes Sacha Funke, an experienced artist with credits for his deep, graceful sounds on the likes of Kompakt, BPitch Control and Turbo. Here he reworks ‘King of Elephants in the Sequence’ into a flailing and unhinged house track with a giant rasping bassline and trippy synth details. It’s one to shake things up and bring real colour and freakiness to the club.

There was a paradise up there amidst the stars, a beautiful metropolis in which flashing lights and flying cars careered amidst the blackened sky. Bars bustled and people moved to and fro as if like something from an old film. Taxi drivers honked their horns, the sound of chitter chatter and pitter patter was the beat of the street. This was a dream city, a place far away in which imagination could run wild and free. There were no bounds here, no rules and no punishment. The people were kind and smiled at one another as they passed whilst the shiny glass windows upon the street corners gleamed and beamed at a world unknown. 

Benjamin Fröhlich is set to release what is known as the "Rude Collection" on his own Permanent Vacation imprint. A collection of sprawling club tracks, abstract cuts and reworks from close friends and associates. Axel Boman steps up to rework "Dream City".

Following their hugely well-received, refreshingly outlandish debut EP for Phantasy, Israeli club outsiders Red Axes return to the label with another three-track delight of leftfield dance entitled ‘Sound Test’.

Debuting on Phantasy in 2018, ‘Sipoor’ by Red Axes was massive. The release received critical acclaim, not to mention heavy support within the club realm from DJs like Call Super, Jennifer Cardini, Ewan Pearson, Fort Romeau, Massimiliano Pagliara, Chloe, and many more.

Highly soughtafter by those who’ve heard Erol Alkan unleash it in recent months, ‘Sound Test’ kickstarts Phantasy Sound’s 2019 - a rolling tool for a dance floor sliding into another dimension, constructed around a dramatic, numeric countdown. A minimal, skeletal build builds (and builds!) throughout to one of the most out-there breakdowns in recent rave-blotted memory, as the Axes slowly but surely rebuild their house to even more outlandish new proportions. Ten, nine, eight, seven...

‘Shabak Shalom’ quickly snatches the record back from outer space and drags it deep into the basement, zoning in on the gritter, strobe-ready sound that defines the duo’s most club-ready work. All of the Axes’ weapons of choice are deployed as unusually as per usual; militant drums, battered electronics, fucked- frequencies, wiry post-punk guitar lines and lovingly drowned traditional instruments blend to create their own special, slightly-menacing interpretation of hi-NRG.

Finally, on the unapologetically sprawling and immediately effective closing number, ‘Kookoo Papa’, Red Axes demonstrate their inherent talent, if proof were ever needed, of conjuring rolling, simmering tension in otherworldly shades. Those who enjoyed the cartoonish motor FX of ‘Teroof’ will be delighted to find themselves found into an even wackier race this time round, hitting on the origins of Chicago jack, acid meltdowns and screeching no-wave.
