your inner critic is loud and discouraging,
and you don’t want to risk failing again.
but can you reframe your thinking, and accept that those past failures were necessary practice and redirection? 
forgive yourself, have compassion and kindness for the version of yourself that didn’t know any better, and that lacked experience and wisdom. 
stop allowing past trauma to keep you small and caged. 
be curious and EXCITED to start over again. 
step into the unknown… follow your heart without needing to know the path or where it leads… it will reveal itself to you with each step you take.
trust yourself. trust god, trust the universe, trust your spirits and ancestors who are walking with you and guiding your steps. 
feel the fear, feel the doubt, feel the uncertainty and do it ANYWAY.
don’t wait anymore.

we need to add more nuance to our thinking and language. saying “i’m in control of my emotions” is a lie. NOBODY is in control of their emotions. we can’t control how we feel about things any more than we can control our heartbeat or organ functions. 

what we want is to be in control of how we react to the emotions we’re having. 

you’re never going to be in control of the visceral emotions that come up in your body when faced with the death of someone you love, for example. the presence of the emotion itself is never the problem, and it is not a thing that always needs you to exert your control over it. can you allow yourself to be the observer of your emotions AND be in your emotions at the same time? 
stop being an emotional tyrant. 

also; stop letting other people tell you how to feel. the only one who should be validating your emotional experience is you. you don’t need a consensus. you don’t need an audience. you just need to hold space and be present with yourself and your feelings.

stop being an emotional tyrant...

stop allowing your past to hold you back…
the only thing in your way is YOU. 
you are clear on your your goals and ambitions, and you have the necessary motivation to achieve them, but you have unfinished business that needs to be addressed and acknowledged before you can get there. 
i’m not saying to beat yourself up and play the blame game.
i’m saying to own up to your part and
take accountability for how you got here.
take responsibility for your life.
be able to stand by your choices and decisions and accept your current circumstances as consequences.
understand the nature of cause and effect.
there are no victims.
there are no villains.
nothing has happened TO you… 
everything has happened FOR you. 
your problems won’t go away by acting like you can’t see them…
and they won’t go away by placing blame on yourself or others. 
you know deep down what you need to do.
and you know deep down you can’t keep doing things the way you’ve been doing them. 
so stop avoiding discomfort; lean into it. 
get out of your own way by looking in the mirror instead of pointing fingers. 
it’s nobody’s fault.
