La World Music n’existe pas. (n✳2) est une playlist commentée réalisée par Mona Hackel pour la Radio FM itinérante Ondorphine en août 2022 lors du festival Chantelouve (au Col d’Ornon).

Cette émission revient sur le terme très problématique de « World Music » (musique du monde) et propose tout simplement de le mettre à la poubelle.
Sans être musicologue, ni géographe, ni même originaire des pays mentionnés, Mona vous propose une traversée musicale d’une heure à travers l’Europe de l’Est pour écouter des musiques communautés tziganes issues : de Macédoine, d’Albanie, de Roumanie et de Serbie.
Au programme, des musiciens et musiciennes tziganes phare des années 50 comme des artistes contemporain·es pour rendre compte des métissages qu’on connu ces musiques traditionnelles.

Merci à Elie Hackel et Mihai Pirvan pour les nuits partagées à digger et discuter de ces immenses patrimoines musicaux. Un grand merci à  Margo Chou pour son articule intitulé « La vraie playlist tsigane / Les manele, musique transgressive et populaire » parue dans la revue Le Crieur n°10.

In Hour 2 we welcome Khruangbin , the Texan trio who take influence from 1960's Thai funk (their name literally translates to "Engine Fly" in Thai ) and include Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald “DJ” Johnson on drums. Their debut album from 2015 ‘The Universe Smiles Upon You’ is steeped in the bass heavy, psychedelic sound of their inspirations and was recorded at their spiritual home, a remote barn deep in the Texas countryside. The band listened to a lot of different types of music on the long drives out to the country but their favorites were 60s and 70s Thai cassettes gleaned from the cult Monrakplengthai blog and compilations of southeast Asian pop, rock and funk. Their mix is a sublime selection of music that includes Arthur Verocai, Return to Forever, Serge Gainsbourg, Miles Davis and some incredibly rare records from Christy Azuma, Ahmed Fakroun and Theodora Ifudu. You can catch them playing alongside Kendrick Lamar, Jamie XX and Kamasi Washington in Hyde Park, London on 2nd July, their US Tour kicks off in September and they have a remix release coming out in early June.
