The band was formed by Kováts’ urge to adventure and further explore some seemingly narrow but still endlessly enormous fields between Hungarian folk tradition and the modern idiom of jazz. It consists of four well-trained musicians in their full power, but still in desire to experiment and explore. They have already met and worked together in several projects to finally unite in this essential group. The name (in English: Sourdough) tells the concept: take a tablespoon of musician infected by all the colorful cultures surrounding it, add water, let it ferment for a couple of years, then feed the mixture with other musicians with their own sets of infections, let it proof at room temperature, and you’re ready to bake something hot!
