Something a bit different than my usual work - this project started out as a break from three tracks I can't seem to finish - and I wanted to do something with just a couple of guitars. Of course, after the first two guitar tracks I felt that I had to add a bass . . . then an accordion, then another guitar part, etc etc . . .

It's that time of the year again, guys. My holiday track for 2013 - SoCal style!  Lots of guitars and other things. Have a very Merry Axemas and a Happy Crimbo!

First track in a while. This song was written by Jun and was originally titled Gods Corridor - and was primarily guitars with the piano part. I used a couple of guitars and the piano - and added some synths and drum n bassed it. I suppose its a cross between liquidy drum and bass and progressive psytrance.

First Nowell - Mastered

This is my cover of a very old Shawn Lane track originally called Epilogue for Lisa (his sister). The original was acoustic guitar with strings – and this is my distorted guitar tribute version. No fancy guitar work here – just sweet, sweet melody. Shawn Lane died about ten years ago – another fallen brother – and in my opinion – no other guitarist can touch this guy and I doubt if anyone ever will.
Recorded in Reason with the Line 6 Guitar Amp (with a Zoom pedal) and a series of effects: maximizer, eq, make-up gain compressor, unison – delay – reverb and echo

Epilogue

This version of First Noel is based on an arrangement by Eric Johnson – although I’ve changed most of the notes and changed one passage entirely. There are six different guitars and guitar parts, keys, a string section, violin, cello, trumpet, French horn, two basses, and various drum and percussion instruments. I finally had to declare this track finished – otherwise I’ll be adjusting volume levels and effects until this time next year! 

As always, I used Reason 6.5 with Balance and a host of rack extensions and plug-ins

First Noel

My cover of Recognizer from the Tron Legacy soundtrack by Daft Punk. No guitar this week - this is all strings and orchestra instruments from Miroslav and Factory Soundbank in Reason 6.5. Oh - I added an arp and a couple of bass synths.

First track in a couple of months. This is a cover of Eric Johnson’s Manhattan – recorded using Reason 7.0. There are four guitars – two live played through Line 6 Guitar Amp – and two played on a Strat with Roland midi pick-ups through a couple of synths I made. Everything else is played on the keyboard. As always – use headphones!

Surviving the surge and pelt of daily life in Los Angeles . . . .

All of my work is produced using Propellerhead’s Reason 8 with various rack extensions. I use live guitar in most of my tracks and record through the Line 6 Guitar Amp with the Balance audio interface in Reason.

All of the work that I cover and all original works are created and I play every note –  I do not sample any pieces of other artist’s work or use loops or pre-sets. Also – all of my cover work is for promotional use only and I do not own any rights to these pieces.

I am blessed with the support of many incredibly talented musicians, producers, artists and DJs here on Soundcloud, and I will list as many as I can below.
