KR-3 has spent over a decade carefully forging their own special blend dubbed "Appalachian psychedelia", a convergence of Americana folk and country with dreamy synth pop and lengthy narrative improvisation. The band seems to have one foot in crafting songs in the singer/songwriter tradition and another foot dangling in outer space. This tradition of exploration, genre busting and forging their own path on their terms has defined the 4-piece group of Tim Boyd (guitar, vocals) Travis Hoard (keys, vocals) Isa Hufton (bass) and John McFarland (drums). They are picking back up in 2020 with a full festival tour schedule.
 
The band’s sound has been described as "A soul grabbing, mind expanding, psychedelic, funk, and blues inspired jam". We've since forgotten who said that but they obviously had ears.

KR-3 is currently adding the final touches to a new album (the first since 2012's Fractures and Sparks) that is slated for release in the Spring of 2022.
