Like the rest of 'Gliss Riffer' I did all my tracking and mixing in Ableton Live 9 at my studio in Baltimore, Maryland. It was mid july and it was insanely hot (no AC in studio) when I finally got this track and my mind was melting into a mush that just wanted to go swimming.

Most of the 'Feel The Lightning' music that makes up this instrumental track was written in the back of the van during a long drive on the 2012 European tour for my album 'America.'

It was one of the first song I had begun to write after America and I had just started messing around with Ableton (it must of been version 8 at the time). I really feel in love with the Operator Synth and splice audio into midi (more on that in the synth stem description and  drum track description. wow this is boring unless i'm so sorry)

Musically I realized that this track was an outlier for both the album and my work as a whole. The drums are for the most part just a backbeat, there is no bassline to speak of, and it was much slower in tempo compared to my other work. 

It was fun to mess around with a style different from what I was used to and I thought it would be a good way to introduce and start off the album.
