Ghostpoet - Cold Win (Special Request Remix)

We are excited to welcome Spanish breakbeat legend Rasco to the Toast & Jam family with his newest track Put The Breaks. Right out of the gate Rasco turns the funk up to 11 with a retro electro-bass loop in the intro. A monster drum fill kicks out to the melodic theme where a funky synth line harmonically stacks on the sub bass and the result is nothing short of some melt-your-face-off breaks the likes of which we haven't heard in quite a while. An absolute monster tune right here!

Spain's finest Colombo follows up his Big-Beat inspired 2012 album "Abandoned Factory" with "Station 21", our final release for 2013.

Colombo (Alejandro to his mum) takes us on a journey back to the early 2000s and it's burgeoning "nuskool breaks" scene, the sound that's become the breakbeat genre we know and love.  The album is a love letter to the sounds, the beats, and the vibe of the breaks scene's roots.

The album opens with title track "Station 21" with it's skippy beats and warped bassline, then elevates to higher, more club-friendly heights with the acid-fuelled "Bluish".  Colombo keeps a contemporary feel to the album too with the inclusion of "Sponging" and the dirty and driving "Drop It".

There's plenty of deeper cuts here too with the percussive, groove-laden "Four Strokes" and low-end heavy "Destruction".  Tracks like "Nu-skooling" and "Kinship" provide the more "nuskool" rollers here focussing on throbbing basslines and percussion, whilst "Induism" and "Takes The Physical" sounds like actual undiscovered classic gems from the early 2000s.

Big system tracks are well and truly present on the album too - anyone looking for something anthemic and ravey should head straight for "Come With Me" or "Classic Approach" for instant gratification via piano riffs, chopped up breakbeats and sirens galore.  

"What's Up" and "Foreplay" explores Electro while final track "Personal Belongings" keeps the bpms lower but the energy high with a 110bpm finale.

This album pays homage to all things breakbeat in all it's many facets, and there's as much here to please new lovers of the genre, whilst being evocative of "the good old days" to original breaks fans.

Bird Peterson hails from Austin Texas and has had numerous amounts of success on labels such as Mad Decent, Teenage Riot Records and BP Americo but it is now time for Mr. Peterson to show us a thing or two about his love of Disco infused House beats. Horse Music leads you into a false sense of security with the Disco tinged intro, which makes you reminisce the good old days of The Big Beat Boutique, then it hits you full square in the (bass) face with it’s hammering kicks and subsonic low-end frequencies. Horse Music has been doing the rounds in Ibiza to a HUGE response, so jump on!

First on remix duties is label head honcho, Krafty Kuts. Krafty is no stranger to remixing some of the worlds biggest tracks and he does not disappoint with his latest installment. Whilst flipping the original on its head and giving it a badboy Garage flavor, Krafty keeps that Disco edge which sits perfectly on the peak time drop. 

Ensuring this release will hit all the right notes with DJs and clubbers alike are three producers creating huge waves in the dance scene. Jay Robinson delivers some tropical vibes whilst still keeping his well-known floor rattling basslines full in the mix. ‘Hot right now’ producer Rory Lyons perfectly executes a late night twisted House remix and, completing the five track package, Bobby C Sound TV slows things down in time for the early night DJs to fill the dance floor with his explosive take on the original.

To say this release has something for everyone would be to quote an over used phrase. But…
