At one of my shows in San Francisco recently I got one of the strangest song requests of my career. I was in the middle of mixing in a funky glitch hop throw back banger, when a girl came up and asked for some Fleetwood Mac. Naturally, I had nothing for her. I wasn't about to play a raw Fleetwood Mac track in the middle of a glitch hop set, and I'm not really in the businesses of taking requests anyways.

Does your life need more cowbell and funky bass?  

Over the past decade there has been a strong connection between Washington DC and British Columbia, Canada. Both places have produced and nurtured some incredibly talented funkateers, many of whom have remixed Fort Knox Five over the years. It has been a dream of ours to collaborate with these artists on original tracks, pushing forward the future sound of funk to start a new era that we have dubbed "DC to BC." This release is the first of these collaborations, and the end result is nothing short of a boogie monster!  

Jinglin’ Janglin’ was written with the funk and glitch hop maestro K+lab, a New Zealander who now calls Vancouver, BC home. His funky keys, electro-basses and catchy clavinets ooze all over this track. With the addition of Rob Myers' Chic-inspired guitars and a super-stabby horn line, this track positively bounces along – a perfect hybrid of the K+Lab and FK5 styles! On top of all that, the tune features vocals from Hip-Hop royalty: Baby Bam of the Jungle Brothers, who has worked alongside De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest going back to the 1980s. His vocals bubble all over the track, telling you to just "funk wit it" and jinglin and janglin the vibes straight to your feet! This tune is a modern funk-meets-glitch hop banger that has been torching dance floors and festivals all summer.  

We are super stoked to launch the DC to BC series with this wicked Captain K+lab collaboration. Already proven to do heavy duty on the dance floor, this release includes an instrumental mix for the DJs. Keep the funk janglin’ with this booty-shaker and stay tuned for the next installment of the DC to BC collabs.
