Sejam bem-vindos ao B A L A N C Ê Vol. 3

Balancê significa um passo de quadrilha, em que o executante se balança compassadamente, deslocando o peso do corpo de um pé para outro. Para mim, também pode significar balançado, movimento ou dança. Agora, virou também o nome do meu novo podcast mensal que trará episódios de 60 a 90 minutos aproximadamente, contemplando os lançamentos do mercado mundial, clássicos repaginados, faixas atemporais e autorais.

O episódio em questão tem como inspiração a cidade de Amparo em SP, que conta com uma fauna e flora absurda. Paisagens exuberantes e tranquilas com diversas cachoeiras e paisagens mais densas e de mata fechada. O set traz um pouco disso, momentos de respiro e momentos de tensão.

Here’s the world premiere of ‘A Lover’s Dream’ by Sandeman (one half of the deep house duo Wildkats), with vocals by Shiny Objects and Kidhead (Pillowtalk), this one has a deep hound of the Baskervilles vibe permeating the atmosphere over a poetic narrative and rumbling bass-line with tinkling percussion, driving keys and guitar.

Maverick DJ/producer Riva Starr burst on to the house music scene in 2009, impressing a wide variety of fans with his cheeky productions and remixes which straddled genres, tempos and geographical inspirations. Now the man born Stefano Miele is pleased to announce the release of ‘Absence’, the first single from his forthcoming sophomore album ‘Hand in Hand’.

‘Absence’ shows off Riva Starr’s indie background and is probably his most mature work to date. Mixed by Ash Workmann of Metronomy fame, this quirky love song features vocals by ex-The Research singer Russell Searle. Initially drafted in with the sole intention of penning a few top-lines, his quirky infectious interpretation soon conquered all, and so RSSLL came to be.

The video for ‘Absence’ comes from Milan-based director Virgilio Villoresi, an award winning “artisan” filmmaker whose bizarre influences (from Polish animators to US underground arts) are clearly reflected in the intriguing final product.

Throughout 2012, Riva Starr graced venues such as Manchester’s Warehouse Project, Watergate (Berlin), ElRow (Barcelona) as well as hosting his “Snatch! Records” tent at Creamfields and Tomorrowland. Check him out on the 15th of February at a rare Fabric appearance.

With the release of ‘Hand In Hand’ this summer, 2013 is set to be an even bigger year for Riva – watch this space…
