An infectiously fun mix from the Cairo-born, Berlin-based producer ABADIR.

On his last release, 'Mutate', ABADIR crafted a set of bassy, club mutations from a panoply of Arabic rhythms. He's part of a movement of artists from the Arab world fusing traditional rhythms with global genres to create dancefloor belters that have one foot in the past and the other in the future. For ABADIR, mutation is one of the overarching themes within his work.

On his Trippin Mix, he reminisces over his past summers – particularly those of the 90s. Here, the producer stitches together the chart-topping hits that shaped those seasons, journeying through Eurodance, trance, house and pop. "I consider fun an essential factor when it comes to making music, listening and dancing," he writes. "We somehow miss the fun element. Now That’s What I Call Fun!"

Jungist (@jungist) is Hong Kong born, Eora/Sydney based DJ, producer and curator. Never bound by genre, Jungist is as versatile as they come whose sets feature everything between dubstep, drum & bass, glitch, noise, grime, techno and bass with an ever captivating, driving and evolving sense of narrative and experimentation. 

Jungist has impressively shared a lineup with international artists including Kode9, Giant Swan, Goldie, Calibre, Air Max 97’, Goth-Trad, RSD, Loefah, Pariah, Sicaria, Bailey Ibbs, Kilbourne, 4am Kru, DJ Plead, C. Frim, Ivy Lab, Truth, Mad Zach, Flava D, Chase & Status, DJ Marky, and Keeno and performed at Origins of Entropy Music and Arts festival and Art Valley festival in 2023 and will be performing at Dragon Dreaming Festival later this year.

Jungist is co-founder of events and mix series, Decay Audio. With a finger on the pulse of the underground, Jungist has curated some of the finest lineups, disrupting the state of electronic music in Sydney, Eora. Born out of a passion and thirst for a darker sound, the Decay mix series showcases talent from around the world, offering artists a platform to experiment and break away from convention. 

Jungist is a mainstay of independent radio. They held a residency at FBi radio hosting ‘Variable Depth Audit’ an exploration of experimental bass music through the city’s comedown hours Sunday nights. Jungist briefly hosted Thursday Sunset during prime time 6-8PM to demonstrate her versatility.

Jungist’s debut release ‘Dark Room’ featured on the Bass Water Freak Out Vol.2 compilation. The track is a lofty, head nodder with tripped out distorted breaks and haunting ambience. Jungist is set to release her debut EP on Naarm/London based label Local Knowledge mid 2023.

The latest podcast sees Petrola 80 bosses @lyravalenza take a restrained approach while placing specific focus on their local Copenhagen scene.

A collaboration between longstanding friends Jens Konrad and Hjalte Lehman, the LV blueprint transcends genre. It’s day-glo rave ordnance that draws from eurodance, techno and the so-called hardcore continuum – nostalgic and undeniably fwd-facing at once.

Distilling the euphoria of their live sets into 8 distinct tracks, debut full-length ‘Low Gear No Pressure’ spanned everything from blissed ambience to precision-tooled breakbeats and trance-tinged jungle. Dipping into downtempo territory for the first time, it also represented a broadening of their already eclectic palette, and this mix certainly continues in that vein.
 
“Our recent DJ appearances and mixes have been hazy peak-hour sets, so here, we wanted to dive a little deeper and explore slower BPMs and tracks we rarely get the chance to play out, combined with tunes we usually play in the beginning of our sets. It’s also the first time we chose to work with a strict gender balance between the featured artists and producers. And as usual we focused on the booming Copenhagen scene, this time including local artists such as Gavnlig, Muskila, Capitana, DJ Paydar and Mbizo.” – Lyra Valenza
