During the late 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, WKBW became a major force in pop radio over the East Coast. KB had a 50,000-watt transmitter (the maximum power allowed) at their transmitter site in Hamburg. This high power blanketed the entire eastern U.S. with Top 40 music every night, and the station actually had a better signal at night in the western Boston suburbs than Boston's own Top 40 station, WMEX, located at 1510, right next door to WKBW. 
Disk jockeys included future Price Is Right announcer Rod Roddy, Dick Biondi, Danny Neaverth, Jack Armstrong, Joey Reynolds, Steve Mitchell, Bud Ballou, Norm Marshall, Tom Shannon, and the Amazin' Jim Quinn.

This is the 1979 broadcast on 630 CHED saluting the 25th anniversary of the launch of the (former) 1080 CHED station - including day one interviews with some of the original staff - fun bits they did - my Dad talking about the amazing things the station did in the heyday of Top 40 Radio.

This is a conversation I did in early 2012 with comedian and podcast giant Marc Maron.  We talk about his app, Louis CK, his expectations when he started podcasting, his monetization strategies for the podcast, and where he sees the medium going. 

A Conversation With Marc Maron

Ever since I can remember, 93.3 in Albuquerque, New Mexico has been '93.3 KOB FM.' 

But on November 15, 2019, the station became '93.3 The Q.'

According to RadioInsight.com, "the move away from the KOB-FM branding and KKOB-FM call letters helps differentiate the station from sister News/Talk 770 KKOB, which has been putting much more emphasis on its 94.5 translator frequency."

I dug out some old tapes and found some digital files on hard drives, and put together this montage of KOB FM over the years, starting with 1992. As an avid jingle collector, the montage is very jingle heavy, but I threw in some liners and promos as well. 

And speaking of jingles, if you worked at station in the 1990's/2000's and may have copies of the JAM/TM jingles in the clear, please contact me!  I heard the jingles were either lost or destroyed. :(
