As the dust finally begins to settle after the release of Pan-Pot's massive album 'The Other', it's time to unleash a collection of heavy hitting reworks from the best and brightest stars of todays techno elite. Through careful consideration and an acute attention to detail, we couldn't be more elated to confirm ten artists we know and love to contribute their unique vision to Second State's first ever remix package.

Kicking things off with a heavily twisted alteration of 'Attention' is Nicole Moudaber and it's a tangled, dark trek through dense acoustic layers of audible madness. Next up is the Hamburg duo

Extrawelt with their twist on 'Optimistic Grey' and they deliver a beautiful blend of emotion and groove they are synonymous for.

Following suit is another passionately romantic number from man of the hour, Stephan Bodzin, and his take feels like floating through a sea of clouds, resulting in a timeless classic to be a focal point in any set for years to come.

Next in line is Ray Kajioka's take on '808 Nirvana' and it's a cosmic ride, ripe with swirling atmospherics laid over big churning drums and rolling cymbals.

Following up on the second 12“ of this LP is a man who needs no introduction: Carl Cox. And in true Coxy fashion he turns 'Riot' into just that: a big room, tension building monster!

Broken Engine' is the next track to get worked over and Wigbert delivers a stunning mix of shimmering tones and growling bass resulting in a lush venture through a cosmic backdrop of flickering stars in deep space.

Joseph Capriati ensues with his vision of 'Fugitives' and he brilliantly keeps the vibe of the original yet adds his trademark big room flair to take it to another level of driving euphoria.

Enlisting the talents of Alan Fitzpatrick to remix one of the slower listening tracks on the album turned out to be magic. With his signature percussion, Fitzpatrick takes the parts and creates a dive deep into sultry smooth waters of seduction.

The first of our last two remixes, which are digital exclusives, come from Paul Ritch and he delivers a grinding rendition of 'Riot', expertly crafted for the more euphoric peak time occasions.

Last and certainly not least is a man on the rise, Kevin Knapp with his twist on his own collaboration with Pan-Pot: 'Get In'. An expertly crafted tech house jam exploding with energy and attitude perfect for any moment, day or night, indoors or out.

No matter the time or place, there is something here for everyone and we are truly fulfilled and honored to present this package of cutting edge artists to celebrate this landmark moment. We know you will enjoy!

Following the widespread acclaim for Ferro’s The Neverending Story, Lessizmore continues in its quest to highlight some of the most captivating practitioners of mind-altering house and techno. This time their search takes them to Istanbul, shoring up with the considerable talents of Mutlu San. This young producer has proven to be one of the most exciting artists in the Turkish scene, already laying down a solo EP on Petra named Leidenfrost. Meanwhile he also works in partnership with fellow Istanbul firebrand Batu Güler as Bärtaub, the pair having recently released the Wolke EP on the ever-excellent Paragram Records, and Atrax & Remixes double EP on Petra incl. remixes of Swayzak, Roger Gerressen, Havantepe, Tolga Fidan and Cesar Merveille.

Stepping up to Lessizmore, Mutlu San takes the opportunity to weave a truly spellbinding tale of what creative house music can be in 2017. “Deep Sea Mosaics” manages to be many things at once, from a hypnotic micro-house roller to an exercise in immersive sound design and on to a meditative ambient piece to soothe a restless head. The pads and synth tones coo out a lullaby of deep harmony underneath all manner of playful sonics, but still an irresistible groove carries the track along through a stirring spread of moods. 

Long-serving minimal hero Tolga Fidan makes his first appearance on Lessizmore since the earliest days of the label on the Overview compilation, delivering a remix of “Deep Sea Mosaics” that uses the ethereal pads of the original track as a backdrop for a deep, dubby club construction. The drums stride forward with purpose while the atmospheric delay pulses create a hypnotic allure perfect for hazy dancefloors at the far end of the night. 

“Phylum” finds San inviting Güler into the fold for a Bärtaub version that ramps up the club focus with a snappy, swinging set of drums that take centre stage. However, in line with the rich production values of the opening track, there is a lot more to this jam than percussion, and a sumptuous bed of tones and audio debris swirl around behind the beat. As the track builds, so these elements creep to the fore and shape out a narrative that grows ever more engaging towards the climax. 

Rounding the EP off, “Subglacial Funk” opens up with a classic micro house refrain that calls to mind the finest Minibar-style minimalism. Once again the starting point is only a fraction of the story, and so San gently builds up the layers of detail in the track without upsetting the natural flow of the needlepoint groove. By this point it’s apparent just how much skill is flowing into these productions, balancing a wide variety of sounds while keeping the mood mellow and meditative. It can take producers years to reach such a point, but on his second solo release Mutlu San seems to have comfortably achieved an impressive level of maturity in his sound, which only promises even more exciting things for the future.

BärtauB are probably the most experienced producers on this EP and count heavyweights like Ricardo Villalobos and [a:rpia:r] as fans. In their home city of Istanbul and across the minimal scene of Europe the cognoscenti know Mutlu San & Batu Guler as DJ’s of impeccable taste. Archivot is another ace hypnotic house groove to add to their impressive discography.
