I am with you on the conclusion - 'make your ears see' supported by the singer understanding the 'visual imagery' behind the lyrics. For both of this to happen, one has to internalize the song and develop to a certain degree the devotion. In this song, it is not just a mother searching for her son, it is an innocent mother searching for the lord incarnate. Then the music will transcend everything and genuinely make your ears see

The major take away for me from this podcast is that, the ending note also indicates an emotion. From KS Chitra's rendition of the song, I hear that most of it is exact, except the ending note. She starts of with slower variations and builds up, which is typically, how I will also approach this song (this is also true for a song like needhan mechukolavendum). But there is one thing that is not answered. Why is the word begane there? Begane means fast, so initially, you don't tell your child "please come fast" in a slow way. The word fast itself implies, you want him to come quickly. And looking at it in that perspective, Yesudas's rendition makes more sense, doesn't it? Since, it implies your search has already started. Or we should sing, krishna nee baro and then krishna nee begane baro.. Am I wrong? Even in the anupallavi, the word begane comes, right? These are just doubts, I might be way off...
