OK so I wanted this mix to be called "A Secret History" bc I thought it was more fitting but Richelle really wanted to have the Katt Williams reference and of course I had to let him have it.

Not sure where to start this but I feel somewhat privileged as I had the chance of having Richelle's music in my life for the last 12 years now, I can still remember him bringing me burned CD's with weird handwriting on it back in 2003, I also remember being completely mindblown by his audacity and his vision of music back then ::: I became instantly hooked.
Since we started Pelican Fly together in 2011, not a lot has been said about the elusive Richelle ; he is invisible on the web, he granted one single interview (to Interview Magazine in 2013) and only released a handful of original tracks (2 EP's on Pelican Fly and a contribution to Bromance's recent "Homieland" compilation), a few remixes and featurings, two fashion shows soundtracks (both for Rick Owens) and a track for Bricc Baby Shitro's latest mixtape. 
Of course, we know that Richelle has been extremely busy with the visual aspect of Pelican Fly, designing everything from the latest remix artwork to the logo of the label ; rumor also has that he is an architect and builds hotels & appartments in Brussels and elsewhere. But who can really be sure ?

A couple of weeks ago, he sent me this mix composed of demos (Gmail has now replaced the old CD's), mainly produced by him but also by a lot of young artists he's been helping or collaborating with. And once again, it hits me, this music, so radical, reminiscent of everything we've been listening to and everything we've been dreaming of listening to, yet so different and new ; the sound of tomorrow, the music of today as they say.

This mix documents the unheard history of what has been going on with Richelle recently, I found it so powerful that it needed to have its own catalogue number (FLY021) and it also acts as some kind of virtual Garage Sale before the big leap next year.
This one is for those who are crazy, those who keep asking me for "New Richelle" at every gig (<3). Of course, in true Richellian fashion this mix is not for sale, the demos it is made of are for the most part not even yet finished (but will they ever be ?) this mix is as free as the statement it makes. THAT'S MY SHIT.
