On Tuesday 11-18-2014 I had the honor of playing the piano with my university's orchestra, conducted by the fantastic Ubaldo Valli. The piece was Fauré's "Pelléas et Mélisande Suite." I was filling in for the harp parts. Although I play in all four movements, the third movement (about minute 8:42 if you want to skip ahead) is where my biggest contribution was. I was very nervous as this was my first ensemble experience. The piece was technically easy, very easy, but being a part of an orchestra was so new to me it did take a while, quite a number of rehearsals, to finally get it right. Thanks to everyone who helped: Ubaldo, Louise and Terry and to everyone who wished me luck. I didn't break that leg :-)

A very difficult song, both for the singer as for the pianist.
Difficult to keep the repetitive notes in the piano at a constant pace  (we're galloping on a horse in this song, as you can see in the image ;-) )and for the (bass) singer it is quite high and there are many large intervals!
Just before we started there was an incident, caused by someone in the audience, that disrupted the concentration considerably, but it did feed the adrenaline! ;-) ;-) ;-)
