Sometimes I wonder if you ever listen when we speak to you.
I doubt that you do.
Any chance of contempt now seems so bleak.
You dress up in all black and carry on as if you are the only one who is a freak.

So are you the know-it-all of all of the know-it-alls, the greatest of them all?
Cause I have searched high and low for the one who knows it all, the greatest of them all.

You thrive on listening to the sounds of your own voice.
When I try to explain the methods of my choices to you doubt that they could be true.

The Greatest Of Them All

So when I was a little bit younger, I had it all figured out.
And I felt like I knew everything that there was to know about what it meant to be a man.
I was wrong.
I never knew how to be the man.

But those years have passed.
And as I look back down upon that road once again my friend, I can see for myself that I am not that proud of who I was, or of what I had become.

Here I am a little bit older now.
My life is rearranged.
And I feel like I have come of age, but some things will never change.
Those things are beyond my control.
I do not know how to be the man in control.

But those years have now passed.
And as I look back down upon that road once again my friend, I can see for myself that I am not that proud of who I was, or of what I had become.
I wish that I could go back and try again.

So when I am a little bit older and I write this song again, will I feel like I do now?
Will I be me or will I be the man?
I do not have what it takes so I may not know how to become that man who is in control.

But those years have not passed.
And when I look back down upon that road once again my friend, I will see for myself if I am still not proud of who I was, (as of right now) or of what I had become.

Those Years Have Passed

When I look up at night and all that I can see is a void from way up above that looks down upon me, I feel so immature.
And I feel obsolete.
When will we ever know for sure and will we ever meet?

Your politics and currency, they mean nothing to you and me.
I am free to disagree with what I see.

I share my life with her.
And yes, we both agree that we were never all alone.
But did they set us free?
I know it sounds insane.
But no one can explain the formations that still remain aside from Mary Jane.

When they return from up above, will they approve and be proud of what we have done?
