Diguital Trip - Estás Distraido

This is the mix from my first official DJ set, in Costa Rica with such a vibrant community of dancers celebrating life and moving  to the rhythm of all of creation. 

Many people from around the world came to the area for the Envision festival, and are still here, dancing through the pandemic. The energy was full of love and celebration of life, as everyone dropped into that sacred space of embodying the music as the cosmos danced through.   

Proceeds funded water protection efforts to stop mining companies from polluting the Baru River in Costa Rica, and also supported the Conscious Collectivo NGO for Earth regeneration projects, school for local children, creating community gardens, more events, the Baru River Water Protection project.   

May this mix be medicine to you, wherever you are in the world, and whatever you’re going through. Please comment and let me know how it moves you.

Shika Shika is more than happy to present a new Botanas single by Brazilian talent Numa Gama from the Voodoohop Collective. In Numa Gama's words:

"Sounds can transport us in every single way. Right now, we cannot get together so I decided to collect these tracks to give everyone out there the chance to listen and dance. Together still, but in a more diluted spacetime.

This release contains two tracks I used to play a lot on the dance floor, an amazing spontaneous cross remix by Barda and Barrio Lindo, as well as an ambient mix which I couldn't resist to make at the eleventh hour. 
All the sounds were collected from the many recordings I made in Amatlan the Quetzalcoatl, México, in early 2018. Even the echos were extracted from how the sound of the fireworks bounced between the mountains - something you could hear often because of the religious celebrations between November and December. In an improvised home studio, I added percussion, ngoni and guitar layers. The synth sound design for the tracks turned out to have an airy, smooth touch which resembles somehow a West African sounding texture - but from another dimension. As if it was a memory swimming in ether.

I hope more memories will keep being added to the magnetic field that these tracks represent.

The foundations for @m_o_p 's debut on Random Collective began with field recordings of various flora and fauna in and around the Mindo jungle of Ecuador. As nature does, MOP sought to find a balance in the elements of the EP so he enlisted Huaira to provide voice over the electronic base. To further balance the release, fellow Ecuadorean producer and long-time Random Collective collaborator @santide put his signature analog swing on the title track, while the Mexican Rey of slow grooves @dvniel-dt delivered a hypnotic head-bobbing remix of Monjes de Fuego.

I was so excited to play at this luxury French-Fusion restaurant in Koh PhaNgan, at one of their last nights of the season.

I felt that French Chansons, Jazz and light Latin-Electronic music would work very well with the ambiance in the restaurant.

Some of the french people said that they were missing this music after so many months of traveling, and at the end of the evening, a group of frenchies was singing along with 'La Boheme'.

Some of the French songs i played are songs i've heard at home from age zero  - I clearly remember seeing the vinyl cover of Charles Aznavour's album as a child.
