First experiment with the Mannequins Mangrove and Doepfer Sequential Switch. The Pamelas Workout does some quite heavy lifting. Korg SQ-1 and Make Noise René are creating polyrhythms against each other to try to create some variation to the "melody". The Mangrove is manually woggled but automatically ducks on each kick. Still trying to figure out how to make some sort of song from a quite simple groove...

First song on the easel. Experimenting with different sounds.

Rhythm sequencing done by using the step sequencer sliders to control LPG state for the single note melody and the step sequencer switches to trigger the envelope generator for the bass notes. Bass is transposed with the 218r-keyboard.

Using the quantiser of the 20C to quantise the voltages from the 250e and passing them on to the 261e tuned to ~1.2v/oct. Some of the steps in the sequence are fixed and some are read from a 281 channel in loop mode. Also: various modulation of the 261e timbre, symmetry, higher order and fm. Bass rhythm from the mod osc.

Emoticon Sickness

This might be a song about the Lucia and her merry band of humans. My woman came up with the lyrics and performed the singing of the song. I played bass, keys and programmed the drums. The melody is stolen from some oldish dude called Håkan Norlén.

Visa Vid Lucia

Playing with 3:2 shuffle or 5/8 signature depending on how you see it. The 259e bass groove loops in 10 steps over which the drums play a 4/4 wonky kind of shuffle.
The weird stuff on top is just the 261e pitched and modulated by hand on a second take.
Also the bass groove is modulated manually.

Five Taken

This is my first vocoder patch ever. Patching a 259e and a 261e through a borrowed 296 clone. The sequence is programmed in logic. The bass-melody-line is a mix between the vocoder patch with the original 259e signal dropping in and out for extra bottom.

The fading-in-fading-out hihat-snare pattern is a pre sampled 259e morphing between two wavetables and the more punchy drums are from Ableton Live.

Most of the modulation was done by hand...

Only The Green Rubber Sombrero

Patch idea: mixing two sequences and then quantizing the end result.
Patch: a steady sequence from the 250e is mixed with a 281 lfo in one channel of 257. The result is then patched to another channel of 257 for further attenuation before being sent to a 2OC (unfortunately off screen...) s&h:ing and quantising to Dorian scale. The quantised voltage is then sent to the 259e cv in. There is also some modulation of the morph and warp to achieve some sort of hocketing with different timbres for different note values.

A couple of minutes into the set i realised the mod osc was following and in tune with the principal osc so I just went with the flow and plugged it in as well and was almost blown away by the sound! :)

Just to clarify, the rising jumping steps-kind of sequence is from the 281 lfo sampled at a different clock speed thus achieving the phase shifting evolving pattern. It was so much fun to have the possibility to gradualy fade between two sequences instead of this discrete line between them.

More experimenting with mixing of sequences. The 250e provides the 259e with a steady bass line. The 257 mixes a random 266e style voltage from Ableton Live via the 255e and the bass line from the 250e and feeds the mix into one of the 2OC (Northern Light Modular) quantisers. The quantised signal is then driving the 261e.

The performance consists of turning the mix knob of the 257 to harmonise the bass line with the melody and gradually bring in the random sequence to stray from the steadiness of the programmed sequence. The melody sequence is also translated upwards with the offset knob and expanded with another 257 channel.

West coast synthesis take on modal jazz
The left side of the 2OC is used as a sequencer with two sequences running different lengths. One 5-step sequence drives the bass line and the other 7-step sequence drives the velocity of the bassline. This creates a longer moving bassline for the Mod Osc of the 261e.
The melody is just the Principal Osc of the 261e sequenced by the 2OC quantizer set to dorian mode with random input from the 267e. The range and speed of change is modulated manually to maintain some sort of control.

Everything is routed through the SSL SiX using to sends for reverb and delay in Ableton.

Drums are programmed in Ableton.

First time trying out the Morphagene. Just sampled something from youtube and mangled. Drums from ALM Squid Salmple, bass drone from Cylonix Shapeshifter and QPAS, sequenced by Eloquencer.
