Neshima's flow is like an energetic river, carrying you from the city streets up into the clouds, down into the jungles of South America, and out to the deserts of the Middle East. Sound can become a teleportation device, if you breathe it in deep enough.

While this set is genre bending and resists being defined, within you will find elements of organic slow house, andes step, deep house, trip-hop, jungle-glitch, and psychedelic bass.

DJ’ing to me is sonic photosynthesis. The space and crowd put out a vibe, which I inhale that and try my best to breathe back out in sonic form.

Music has always been a life long obsession. Having been involved in the music industry for years, persistently scouring the earth for fresh and inspiring music, I feel I’ve become a bit of a librarian of sorts. With DJ’ing I have found a way to channel my knowledge and passion for our ever evolving music scene. It is with the greatest pleasure that I present to you my findings.

Postcards From The Psychotropics

On Leap Day 2020, my friends at @apte threw what would end up being one of the last underground parties in Seattle before pandemic lockdown. Max thought the recordings from that night had been lost. But magically, exactly one year later, he messaged me with the recording of my set. 

Listening back brings obvious feelings of intense nostalgia for a time where we could all dance together into the early hours of the morning. This was also the first party I've ever played where the cops showed up; the bass from our sound system had set off some alarms in a neighboring building. We didn't get busted, but poor Cam had to play the beginning of his set at a whisper volume until we were sure the coast was clear. 

I miss the excitement and anxiety that comes with directing the mood of a party. The rush you feel when two tracks fit perfectly together, and even the moments when a mix is slightly off or the track you picked falls a bit flat for the room. You take risks and make adjustments on the fly. 

For those who were there that night (and anyone else who cares to listen), I hope this set evokes the same mix of tears and joy that it has for me.
