«Descending into the Sky» is a philosophical and musical work inspired by the masterpiece of the Dutch Renaissance painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder «The Tower of Babel».

Pieter Bruegel the Elder is an artist whom I admire. He can rightfully be considered more of a philosopher in painting than an artist. Each of his works is a multi-level, complex and profound art that will be deciphered for centuries.

The artist lived in a time when everything great was created with tears and blood: famine, civil war, inquisition, poverty. All the tragedy of the era is reflected in his canvases. And since it was dangerous to talk about it openly, the artist had to skillfully go into symbolism and imagery.

The masterpiece that left a powerful mark on me is «The Tower of Babel». In general, the artist has several «Towers of Babel». Upon analysis, it turns out that they are all skewed or falling apart not as a result of divine intervention, as the biblical texts say, but because of fundamental miscalculations and mistakes of architects and builders.

Depicting the Tower of Babel, the artist veiled the image of world religions, which, feuding with each other, provoke wars and contribute to degradation - that is, hell on earth.

The painting has existed for the fifth century, but nothing has changed since then. Religions, like centuries ago, under the slogans of striving for God, lower humanity into hell.

Researchers of the origins of history are well aware of how seriously ancient mythology, as a support of ancient Greek culture, is woven into the symbolism of the modern world. The sword of Damocles, the cornucopia, the palm of primacy and the glory of Herostratus are expressions whose context of application understands everything that cannot be said about their origin.

Greco-Roman mythology is found in all spheres of society: jurisprudence, art, sports, education, politics, but it is most clearly expressed in heraldry. Elements of ancient culture are depicted on the flags of states, emblems and coats of arms of government bodies, logos of organizations and brands. In addition, figurative parallels with ancient mythology are found in almost all religions and mythologies of the world. From Christianity to Islam. And this gives reason to believe that most religions of the world have a common root, which means that the phenomena described in them are figurative expressions of events that took place.

As the famous saying goes: signs and symbols rule the world. And if we start from the fact that a symbol is an element of programming of society (after all, any computer program consists of symbols that make up a code), then we can say for sure that the civilization of Ancient Greece and Rome, if it does not predetermine the modern one, then it has a colossal influence on it.

But what is this influence, and most importantly, what will it lead to?

It is known that the ancient period is famous for high achievements in architecture, poetry, philosophy, mathematics and science, but whatever these achievements were, we must remember that the ancient empires fell. It turns out that mythological codification may contain symbols that lead to self-destruction. Therefore, we must carefully approach their use, using proven meanings.

«The Fall of Empires» is a musical artifact that preserves the egregorial evidence of the collapse of great civilizations.

In it, wind instruments instead of a solemn march bring distress signals from the depths of the ocean, warning the new world about the global catastrophe that has occurred. But this silent call goes into the emptiness of eternity.

There are no more ideological banners developing around the world, no more pompous speeches of political leaders, no more names of great heroes who gave their lives for the good of the future. There are no more discoveries of brilliant scientists, no more monumental masterpieces of architects and works of wise philosophers who found the truth in the labyrinths of the mind. Now only the silent cry of ruins and cold waters keep the secrets of past greatness.

Thousands of years will pass, and on the ruins of the fallen giant new languages, peoples and empires will blossom, hearing echoes of the grandiose past and following the path of their ancestor. This collective image of rebirth in the composition is symbolized by the bright sound of the piano.

But the question remains open: will we be able to break the vicious spiral of history and move beyond the cycles of eternal civilizational rebirths to a new level?
