Lucid Dreamer is a musical interpretation of experiencing a waking state of reverie. The music is a delicate idea that gathers strength and takes flight, releasing the listener from the surly bonds of earth as it soars, dips and glides like a flock of birds. 

Lucid Dreamer was a commission by the Kontras Quartet made possible by Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Program, with general funding provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Chamber Music America Endowment Fund.

"Walk On Boy", one of my favorite Doc Watson Tunes, is our first recording in our new studio after our busy summer season in 2015, expressively done to feature Jens' new Wayne Henderson Guitar. It is a Mahogany D-18 style guitar, and really a great one at that, too. I play my trusty old Martin D-18 I got from my dear late friend Harry West in Statesville about fifteen years ago. 

I think the guitars match magically, and to record this tune gave us great joy. I think we should play some more twin guitar stuff in our live performances, since Jens is my favorite guitar picker of all time....enjoy!

Walk on Boy - Preview

When we first recorded this song shortly after our second trip to America, we never thought this little ditty would become such an important mainstay in our live repertoire.  From the beginning, the reaction we received for this song  was just overwhelming.

Through the years, we have always felt that we could have done a better job recording it,  but we never found a good spot on any of our newer CD projects to justify the effort.

Now with our HD Audio Store, we are able to make it finally happen.  Your pleas have been heard,  and we are happy to present to you a new,  improved version of “Carolina in the Fall”,  to coincide with the re-boot of our Music Festival of the same name here in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, our hometown.  Enjoy!

Carolina In The Fall - Preview

"Jacob’s Ladder" is an instrumental piece that Uwe, Joel and I came up with one morning in the studio.

Jacob’s vision of a ladder leading to Heaven is a beautiful story of hope and love.

This is what in recording is called a “one taker”.   No overdubs or fixes were executed.

Also, we did not use or adjust any audio levels, so the dynamics are exactly as we played it.

I'm happy to be able to share this very special musical moment with you and I hope you will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it.

Jacob's Ladder Preview

Born and raised in Europe, brothers Jens and Uwe Kruger started singing and playing instruments at a very young age. Growing up in a family where music was an important part of life, they were exposed to a wide diversity of abiding musical influences. 

The brothers were performing regularly by the time they were 11 and 12 years old, and they began their professional career in 1979. 

Joel Landsberg, a native of New York City who also had a very ex­tensive musical upbringing, joined the brothers in the early 90s and together they established the incomparable sound that the trio is known for today.
