DJ Sevensol – Live at De School / Nachtdigital 09/06/2019

This recording is from my first 4,5-hour-long all-vinyl set at the lovely Otomoto from last January. It's far from perfect, but I fucking loved doing it!

For me the set was quite a process: first trying to understand the rotary mixer (also a first), then getting used to having no booth monitors (luckily they have a great soundsystem), then hoping the recorder would do allright (shout out to @neecobs , also for the mastering), and then, above all, figuring out how to smoothly get people from eating, to dancing, to partying (they turned out to do all three of those, so thank you all for that). 

All in all, it’s safe to say that you can expect to see this more often. So book me/dance with me/whatever!

Who would have thought the highlight of my 2025 Australian tour would be down by the docks in a small underground club just outside the most remote city in the world?

Sometimes the things that surprise you are things that stay with you and this set was one of them, three hours of playtime warming up from an empty room to sweat dripping from the ceiling.

Direct and sincere thank you to all the dancers that showed up and stayed with me and helped create an insane atmosphere, I'm glad we can relive and revisit the vibes you created.

Three hours of high drama, recorded live at Nowadays in New York.

We know what you're thinking: why did it take so long to get Binh on the RA Podcast? There's no easy answer, especially given that he's been a favourite of ours for over a decade now. So to make up for lost time, the revered digger lands on the series with a tantalising three-hour mix, recorded live at Nowadays in New York earlier this year.

Crammed with rare and unreleased gems spanning house, techno, and electro, RA.989 is heavy on drama, catching the Düsseldorf native in unbridled performance mode.

This is Binh in 2025. But rewind across the past two decades and you'll find a DJ who excels in pretty much any situation, whether warming up for Zip or Margaret Dygas, going back-to-back with masters like Nicolas Lutz or rolling out solo sets that stretch across ten or even 12 hours.

He's acted out all these scenarios most often at Berlin institution Club der Visionaere, the cosy canalside club that became a kind-of spiritual home. (He'd sometimes spend every night of the week there, before parenting duties got the better of him.)

To play for half a day you need a lot of records, and the backbone of Binh's craft has long been a freakish passion for vinyl. Along with Lutz, Vera, and others in CDV's orbit, he approaches the pursuit of wax, new and old, with next-level dedication and a fondness for blind buys. 

That's true of RA.989, although among the un-Shazamables are many tracks that are either out or coming out on Binh's popular Time Passages label. The mix finds him on a house-y tip, luxuriating in roomy basslines, driving 303s and twinkly melodies—with just the right amount of evil. Lock in and savour a one-of-a-kind DJ, completely in the zone.

Detroit Swindle - Wildeburg 2018

I recorded this mix in 2018 for the Her Damit festival and titled it the Mystery of the Motherbeat. I was hungry to tour Europe for the first time and agreed to do a mix and play the festival on a shoestring budget. Her Damit went into bankruptcy later that year, failing to pay artists and others for their work.  They also let their Soundcloud account expire, losing all the mixes they commissioned for the series. 

I am re-releasing this mix under its original name. Its real name. It is one of my deepest mixes. It is filled with the love and hope for the future that I put into it. It was recorded a week before I went to visit Maya and Brooke for the first time in March of 2018, exactly two years ago. That visit would change my life.
