After the desperate, targeted collapse of the internet 1.0 during the final days of the 3rd World War, the world plunged into what was known as the Silent Year. For nearly twelve months, all digital infrastructure—communications networks, data repositories, system controls—went dark. Economies stalled, governments lost oversight, and societies fragmented in the void.

Then came the Aether, the internet 2.0. Spearheaded by a coalition of nations, it was humanity's promised savior that would reconnect the globe with a new cutting-edge, standardized quantum network that was vastly superior in every way to the old, inefficient web that we used to know. What remains of the fractured old net was buried deep... hidden... sealed away from humanity to keep the leftover, broken shards of the artificial demon called Revelations from ever rising again in it's goal of bringing about the end times for humanity.
