Recorded in July 1981, the song was written by Bowie with Italian producer Giorgio Moroder. The 1981 recording has been described as one of "the finest of Bowie's recordings of the 1980s". A re-recorded version of the song, created a year and a half later, appears on the album Let's Dance (1983). The director Paul Schrader engaged Bowie for a theme song in 1981, with Moroder having already recorded most of the music. Bowie was to put lyrics to the main theme. The B-side is a Moroder-only instrumental which featured no input from Bowie.
The song itself, in keeping with the dark tone of the film, has some goth rock influences, with Bowie singing in a deep baritone croon while being backed up by a female chorus. Bowie's octave leap on the word "gasoline" has been called "a magnificent moment" and "among the most thrilling moments he ever committed to tape".

The "Real Cool World"  by David Bowie Released on 10 August 1992, it represented his first new solo material since the dissolution of the band Tin Machine. The track marked a reunion with Let's Dance producer Nile Rodgers, with whom Bowie began working in the first half of 1992. "Real Cool World" was the first song to come out of their year-long collaboration. After releasing this song, Bowie intended to go back to his band Tin Machine to record a third album, but when the band fell apart, Bowie and Rodgers instead recorded and produced the songs for Bowie's next solo album, Black Tie White Noise (1993). David Live is the first official live album by David Bowie, originally released by RCA Records in 29 October 1974. The album was recorded in July of that year, on the initial leg of Bowie's Diamond Dogs Tour, at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. The second leg, a more soul-oriented affair following recording sessions in Philadelphia for the bulk of Young Americans, would be renamed 'the Soul tour', as reflected on the live releases, Cracked Actor (Live Los Angeles '74) (2017) and I'm Only Dancing (The Soul Tour 74) (2020).The album catches Bowie in transition from the Ziggy Stardust/Aladdin Sane glam-rock era of his career to the 'plastic soul' of Young Americans.[While the cover featured a picture of Bowie in his latest soul threads – baggy trouser suit complete with shoulder pads and braces from October 1974 – the music was recorded in July of that year when he was showcasing his two most recent studio albums of original material, Diamond Dogs and Aladdin Sane, as well as selected favourites from Ziggy Stardust and earlier.The tour was Bowie's most ambitious to date, featuring a giant set designed to evoke "Hunger City", the post-apocalyptic setting for Diamond Dogs, and his largest band, led by Michael Kamen. In Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, Phillip Jeffries, played by David Bowie, suddenly exits an elevator in the Philadelphia FBI office, two years after his disappearance. He hurries to the office of his former superior, Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole and starts raving in a loud and disturbed manner, referring at one stage to Special Agent Cooper and yelling “Who do you think this is, there?”Jeffries goes on to narrate where he has been since his disappearance. He mentions names and incidents that are unfamiliar to those listening. His words are illustrated by the intrusion of a ghost transmission showing a small group of characters, including The Man From Another Place and BOB, in a series of strange rooms.He disappears into thin air once again after announcing “I found something... and then there they were!”Jeffries is frequently mentioned in the 2017 series, which reveals that he was the original leader of the Blue Rose Task Force and was involved in the first Blue Rose case, alongside Cole. An unseen individual identifying as him assigns Ray Monroe to kill Cooper's doppelgänger. Albert Rosenfield also informs Cole that he was contacted by an individual claiming to be Jeffries, which led to the killing of an agent stationed in Colombia. Cole later re-experiences Jeffries' sudden reappearance in a dream and remembers Jeffries' comment about Cooper, implying that Cooper may have been an imposter.With the death of Bowie, Jeffries is depicted as a grey orb right by a giant steaming kettle in a room above the convenience store. Cooper's doppelganger approached it, after receiving info on his whereabouts from Ray Monroe. Dale Cooper later encounters Jeffries to access 1989 to rescue Laura Palmer in Part 17.The soundtrack to Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me was released on Warner Bros. Records on August 11, 1992. It includes music by Angelo Badalamenti, who had composed and conducted the music on the television series and its original soundtrack.In addition to his instrumental compositions, Fire Walk with Me's soundtrack features vocal accompaniment to Badalamenti's songs by jazz vocalist Jimmy Scott and dream pop singer Julee Cruise. Badalamenti performs vocals on "A Real Indication" and "The Black Dog Runs at Night", two songs by the Thought Gang, a musical project between Badalamenti and David Lynch. Lynch wrote the lyrics for several of the soundtrack's songs, including "Sycamore Trees", "Questions in a World of Blue", "A Real Indication" and "The Black Dog Runs at Night", and was the soundtrack's producer alongside Badalamenti.Upon its release, Fire Walk with Me's soundtrack charted in the United States, peaking at number 173 on the Billboard 200. Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of All the Young Dudes, the 5th studio album by the English rock band Mott the Hoople, released in 8 September 1972.All the Young Dudes was a turning point for the then-struggling British band. Mott the Hoople were on the verge of breaking up when David Bowie stepped in and gave them the song "All the Young Dudes". Bowie also produced the album, which took Mott "from potential has-beens to avatars of the glam rock movement". The title track, "All the Young Dudes", was released as a single prior to the album and charted worldwide, becoming the "ultimate '70s glitterkid anthem". "Sweet Jane", a cover of the Velvet Underground song from their 1970 album Loaded, was issued as a single In 2003, the album was ranked No. 491 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. David Bowie............Lost Highway is a 1997 neo-noir film directed by David Lynch and co-written by Lynch and Barry Gifford. It stars Bill Pullman, Patricia Arquette, Balthazar Getty, and Robert Blake. Lynch has described it as a "psychogenic fugue" rather than a conventionally logical story. The film's soundtrack, which was produced by Trent Reznor, features an original score by Angelo Badalamenti and Barry Adamson, as well as contributions from artists including David Bowie, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Nine Inch Nails and The Smashing Pumpkins . Lust for Life is the second solo studio album by American musician Iggy Pop, released on September 9, 1977, through RCA Records. It was his second collaboration with English musician and friend David Bowie after The Idiot, released in March the same year. Shortly after Bowie released his own album Low in January, Pop went on a tour to support The Idiot with Bowie as his keyboardist. At the tour's conclusion, Pop and Bowie regrouped in Berlin to record the former's next solo album.Lust for Life was recorded at Hansa Studio by the Wall in West Berlin from May to June 1977, with production being handled by Bowie, Pop, and engineer Colin Thurston. The touring band of Pop, Bowie, guitarist Ricky Gardiner, and brothers Tony Fox and Hunt Sales on bass and drums, respectively, comprised the primary lineup for the album. After The Idiot was mostly composed by Bowie, Pop was adamant about having more control over Lust for Life, often composing his own arrangements, including for "Sixteen". This resulted in a hard rock and proto-punk sound more akin to his older style with the band the Stooges. Pop would use Bowie's arrangements for some songs, including the well-known title track.Upon release, Lust for Life received little promotion from RCA but nevertheless peaked at number 28 on the UK Albums Chart and remained Pop's highest-charting album there until 2016's Post Pop Depression. It also peaked at number 8 in the Netherlands and number 120 on the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart. Critically, Lust for Life was well-received, with many praising Pop's energetic performance throughout and his greater role compared to The Idiot; the former would later be regarded as one of his best works and has appeared on several best album lists. Highlights include a previously unreleased live medley of 'The Jean Genie/Love Me Do/The Jean Genie' recorded live at the final Ziggy Stardust concert at Hammersmith Odeon in 1973, featuring Jeff Beck on guitar. Other rarities include an early version of the Hunky Dory favourite 'Quicksand' and a previously unreleased live version of 'Rock 'n' Roll With Me' from the legendary 1974 'Soul Tour'.
When the documentary filmmaker Brett Morgen hit his eighth month of writer’s block on an epic project about David Bowie, he decided it was time to hit the road. With just a few hours’ notice, he left his home in Los Angeles one morning and grabbed the first flight to Albuquerque, where Bowie had filmed “The Man Who Fell to Earth” (1976). When Morgen arrived, he took a cab to the train station and hopped aboard an Amtrak, heading west.
“Being in transit was an important theme in David’s life,” he said. “He talked a lot about riding the rails through the West. And a lot of songs that he wrote happened during some of his trips across America.”
Morgen pulled out his notes; his phone, packed with all the albums; and his copy of “The Hero With a Thousand Faces” by Joseph Campbell.“I was thinking about ‘The Iliad,’” he said, “and I started to see David’s journey. Not all that dissimilar — but he was creating the storms for himself.” Suddenly, the script for his film, already three years in the making, began flowing.

Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence is the soundtrack from the film of the same name, released on 1 May 1983 in Japan and towards the end of August 1983 in the UK. It was composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto, who also starred in the film. It was the first film score that Sakamoto composed (although it was released several weeks after the film Daijōbu, My Friend, for which he also composed the music).
Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film has since become a cult classic, largely due to its soundtrack. For the film's soundtrack, Sakamoto won the 1984 BAFTA Award for Best Film Music as well as the 1984 Mainichi Film Award for Best Film Score. David Sylvian contributed lyrics and vocals on "Forbidden Colours", a vocal version of the main theme, "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence", both of which were released as singles. After touring around the world for nearly a year and headlining festival dates in front of 30,000 to 90,000 fans, Bowie wanted to perform several gigs -- on the weekend and within driving distance from his current New York activities -- in a more intimate setting.And if his recent overseas shows are any indication, the Bowie setlist will be wildly eclectic, including songs he's rarely -- or never before -- performed live. Songs performed in Europe, the U.K., Russia,Israel and Japan.
Bowie was earning rave notices for his portrayal of Andy Warhol in the Miramax film Basquiat about the late New York painter Jean Michel Basquiat. Of Bowie's performance,Daily Variety enthused, "...probably best of all,David Bowie in a brilliant Andy Warhol impersonation," while The Hollywood Reporter noted: " Bowie, (Benicio)Del Toro and (Michael) Wincott are all superb." In fact, writer and long time Warhol associate Bob Colacello told USA Today after the 7/31 New York premiere: Bowie's Warhol is "so much like Andy it was scary." For his part, Bowie said, "I'd met him enough times so I kind of knew what (Warhol's) body language was and little idiosyncrasies of how he talked. But I don't really act, I do impersonations, so it was my impersonation of Andy."

Ziggy Stardust wrote the blueprint for David Bowie's hard-rocking glam, and Aladdin Sane essentially follows the pattern, for both better and worse. A lighter affair than Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane is actually a stranger album than its predecessor, buoyed by bizarre lounge-jazz flourishes from pianist Mick Garson and a handful of winding, vaguely experimental songs. Bowie abandons his futuristic obsessions to concentrate on the detached cool of New York and London hipsters, as on the compressed rockers "Watch That Man," "Cracked Actor," and "The Jean Genie." Bowie follows the hard stuff with the jazzy, dissonant sprawls of "Lady Grinning Soul," "Aladdin Sane," and "Time," all of which manage to be both campy and avant-garde simultaneously, while the sweepingly cinematic "Drive-In Saturday" is a soaring fusion of sci-fi doo wop and melodramatic teenage glam. He lets his paranoia slip through in the clenched rhythms of "Panic in Detroit," as well as on his oddly clueless cover of "Let's Spend the Night Together." In spite of the shadow of AIDs and reactionary political and media forces both at home and in the USA, the period 1980 1990 bore witness to a dazzling explosion of dance music that artfully drew a line from the peak of late 70s disco to the emergence of house and it's 90s glory days. The art of the 12" single, the thrill of the remix, the rise of the superclub, the electronic spark of chart pop, the challenging of gender barriers… all had their origin in the gay clubs. It's not unreasonable to make the claim that by the end of the 80s, virtually ALL chart pop music sounded like it had it's origins on the dancefloors of Heaven nightclub!

The first album was released in February 1996 in the UK and 9 July 1996 in the US. The comparatively huge fanbase for both the film and the original soundtrack prompted the release of a second soundtrack on 17 September  1997. This second album included songs from the film that did not make the cut for the first album, as well as songs that did not appear in the final film but were involved at earlier stages or were used as inspiration by the filmmakers, and one duplicate song. The popularity of the first volume led EMI to reissue it and continue to press it since 16 June 2003.
In 2007, the editors of Vanity Fair magazine ranked the original Trainspotting soundtrack as the 7th best motion picture soundtrack in history. David Bowie performed at McNicols Sports Arena in Denver on 17 February 1976, as part of the Isolar Tour.His guitarists were Carlos Alomar and Stacy Heydon. Tony Kaye was on keyboards, George Murray was on bass guitar, and Dennis Davis was on drums.This is a standout show from the Isolar I tour and one of Bowies best from it. Stacey is in amazing shape, playing sharper and flowing excellently alongside the rest of the band. Even the backing vocals have drastically improved. Setlist changes are a bit awkward but they don't take away much from the performances. There are plenty of highlights to be sought out still, including one of the best versions of Stay, Diamond Dogs, and Jean Genie. Not a show you want to skip.                     The setlist

David Bowie Tour band 1995-1996 – Outside Tour
The Outside Tour was a tour by English rock musician David Bowie, opening on 14 September 1995 at Meadows Music Theatre – Hartford, Connecticut. Support during the US leg of the tour was provided by Nine Inch Nails, who segued their set with Bowie’s to form a continuous show. Prick opened the first date of the tour. Morrissey was the support act for the European leg, but withdrew from the tour after nine dates. On selected dates Reeves Gabrels performed songs from his album, The Sacred Squall of Now in addition to performing with Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie. The opening of the concert tour preceded the release of the 1. Outside album which was released on 25 September 1995.

Bowie performed at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens on 26 February 1976, as part of the Isolar Tour. During Waiting For the Man Bowie points at Stacy Heydon,saying “Do you know what he said to me? ‘Yeah my buddy,my home town’ – Stacy Heydon!”, The audience cheer,and laughing Bowie sings on,not at all in character with The Thin White Duke!
The audience are wildly enthusiastic about the solo part Dennis Davis play’s in Panic In Detroit: and after this song Bowie introduces the band. And himself: “This song is called Changes,and my name is David Bowie,good evening”.
After Diamond Dogs Bowie cries out “Thank you very much,good goodnight” and when he returns for Rebel Rebel he waits an aw­fully long time before starting to sing. “It was called .. ,uhm, what’s it called. What’s it called?” Bowie asks,and it is not until after the band have sung “Rebel rebel“ in reply that Bowie starts singing.
At the beginning of The Jean Genie Bowie talks to the audience again: the band have just struck up the song,when Bowie asks:
“Would you like me to tell you about Jean Genie?”. Bowie and the band turn this into quite a hard-boiled version, and just when the band have produced the final tones Bowie says: “Hold it,hold it. Now,someone has thrown me a book that I’ve been trying to get for a long time. Just for that we’ll do some number that we don’t ever do. (cheering.) This is a song that I’ve written with a friend of mine called Iggy Pop,and he’s bringing it out as his record this year some time,and it’s called Sister Midnight and it’s for you tonight”. Sister Mid­night was often played during the US tour,but this is one of the few tapes that have it. Lots of fine guitar work! Ready, Set Go! (Live, Riverside Studios ’03) is a recording of Bowie’s Sept. 8, 2003, interactive music satellite event. It took place at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, London, and played in 86 theaters in 26 countries and featured a Q&A with Bowie.
The special one-off concert featured Bowie’s first-ever live performance of his then-new album Reality. The special one-off live concert was beamed via satellite Monday, September 8 from London’s Riverside Studios, simultaneously to 50,000 fans in 86 cinemas in 26 countries around the planet from Hong Kong to Helsinki. There were 14 screens in Paris alone dedicated to the show.
BOWIE thrilled fans across Europe with a spectacular, first-ever live performance of his brand new album REALITY, due September 16 on ISO/Columbia Records. The performance of the album was followed by precedent-setting interactive question and answer session between BOWIE and fans in cinemas in London, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brussels and Milan.
The event marked many firsts in technological terms: it was the biggest ever non-TV satellite broadcast, the first ever interactive cinema event and the first live satellite event in 5.1 DTS surround sound, which was overseen by longtime BOWIE collaborator, Tony Visconti. He performed the album in its entirety, and the new live release features the complete 11-song main set for the first time, along with bonus seven previously unreleased tracks.                                . 1. "Major Tom is a fictional astronaut referenced in David Bowie's songs "Space Oddity", "Ashes to Ashes","Hallo Spaceboy","New Killer Star" and "Blackstar".Although never mentioned in the song, an astronaut, possibly Major Tom, does make an appearance in the music video for the song "Slow Burn"..German singer Peter Schilling retold and continued the story of Major Tom in his late 1982 release "Major Tom (völlig losgelöst)", which covered as instrumental by Max Greger.The Tea Party created a song entitled "Empty Glass". The song is written from the perspective of an unnamed person who is questioning Major Tom intensely about the purpose of life. The song also references Ground Control and the Bowie phrases "star man" and "diamond dogs".Finally K.I.A. created a song entitled "Mrs. Major Tom'' sung by Larissa Gomes. It was the second of three soundtrack releases in which Bowie had a major role, following Christiane F. and preceding The Buddha of Suburbia..Director Jim Henson approached Bowie to take part in the film in 1983 during Bowie's Serious Moonlight Tour, when he showed Bowie early designs for the movie and a tape of The Dark Crystal. Bowie had wanted to make music for a children's film and saw this as his chance. Bowie recorded five songs for the film: "Underground", "Magic Dance", "Chilly Down", "As The World Falls Down", and "Within You". The film's theme song, "Underground", features on the soundtrack twice, first in an edited version that was played over the film's opening sequence and secondly in full. "Underground" was released in various territories as a single, and in certain markets was also released in an instrumental version and an extended dance mix. "Magic Dance" was released as a 12" single in the U.S. "As The World Falls Down" was initially slated for release as a follow-up single to "Underground" at Christmas in 1986, but this plan did not materialize. The only song Bowie did not perform lead vocal on is "Chilly Down", which was performed by Charles Augins, Richard Bodkin, Kevin Clash, and Danny John-Jules, the actors who voiced the 'Fire Gang' creatures in the film.The soundtrack was advertised in music trade papers such as Billboard. Steve Barron produced promotional music videos for "Underground" and "As The World Falls Down". The music video for "Underground" features Bowie as a nightclub singer who stumbles upon the world of the Labyrinth, encountering many of the creatures seen in the film. The clip for "As the World Falls Down" integrates clips from the film, using them alongside black-and-white shots of Bowie performing the song in an elegant room.Though Bowie was not heavily involved in promoting Labyrinth, Jim Henson was nonetheless grateful that he had made the promotional music videos, saying, "I think it's the best thing he could have done for the film."Barron's videos for "As The World Falls Down" and "Underground" so impressed Henson that he recruited Barron to direct his television series The Storyteller.
The Labyrinth soundtrack has been included on lists of the top 50 movie soundtracks by Paste magazine[ and Gigwise.
According to Bowie biographer David Buckley in 2015, the Labyrinth soundtrack was Bowie's third-best selling iTunes album in the United Kingdom.
