Recorded in July 1981, the song was written by Bowie with Italian producer Giorgio Moroder. The 1981 recording has been described as one of "the finest of Bowie's recordings of the 1980s". A re-recorded version of the song, created a year and a half later, appears on the album Let's Dance (1983). The director Paul Schrader engaged Bowie for a theme song in 1981, with Moroder having already recorded most of the music. Bowie was to put lyrics to the main theme. The B-side is a Moroder-only instrumental which featured no input from Bowie.
The song itself, in keeping with the dark tone of the film, has some goth rock influences, with Bowie singing in a deep baritone croon while being backed up by a female chorus. Bowie's octave leap on the word "gasoline" has been called "a magnificent moment" and "among the most thrilling moments he ever committed to tape".

The "Real Cool World"  by David Bowie Released on 10 August 1992, it represented his first new solo material since the dissolution of the band Tin Machine. The track marked a reunion with Let's Dance producer Nile Rodgers, with whom Bowie began working in the first half of 1992. "Real Cool World" was the first song to come out of their year-long collaboration. After releasing this song, Bowie intended to go back to his band Tin Machine to record a third album, but when the band fell apart, Bowie and Rodgers instead recorded and produced the songs for Bowie's next solo album, Black Tie White Noise (1993). In Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, Phillip Jeffries, played by David Bowie, suddenly exits an elevator in the Philadelphia FBI office, two years after his disappearance. He hurries to the office of his former superior, Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole and starts raving in a loud and disturbed manner, referring at one stage to Special Agent Cooper and yelling “Who do you think this is, there?”Jeffries goes on to narrate where he has been since his disappearance. He mentions names and incidents that are unfamiliar to those listening. His words are illustrated by the intrusion of a ghost transmission showing a small group of characters, including The Man From Another Place and BOB, in a series of strange rooms.He disappears into thin air once again after announcing “I found something... and then there they were!”Jeffries is frequently mentioned in the 2017 series, which reveals that he was the original leader of the Blue Rose Task Force and was involved in the first Blue Rose case, alongside Cole. An unseen individual identifying as him assigns Ray Monroe to kill Cooper's doppelgänger. Albert Rosenfield also informs Cole that he was contacted by an individual claiming to be Jeffries, which led to the killing of an agent stationed in Colombia. Cole later re-experiences Jeffries' sudden reappearance in a dream and remembers Jeffries' comment about Cooper, implying that Cooper may have been an imposter.With the death of Bowie, Jeffries is depicted as a grey orb right by a giant steaming kettle in a room above the convenience store. Cooper's doppelganger approached it, after receiving info on his whereabouts from Ray Monroe. Dale Cooper later encounters Jeffries to access 1989 to rescue Laura Palmer in Part 17.The soundtrack to Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me was released on Warner Bros. Records on August 11, 1992. It includes music by Angelo Badalamenti, who had composed and conducted the music on the television series and its original soundtrack.In addition to his instrumental compositions, Fire Walk with Me's soundtrack features vocal accompaniment to Badalamenti's songs by jazz vocalist Jimmy Scott and dream pop singer Julee Cruise. Badalamenti performs vocals on "A Real Indication" and "The Black Dog Runs at Night", two songs by the Thought Gang, a musical project between Badalamenti and David Lynch. Lynch wrote the lyrics for several of the soundtrack's songs, including "Sycamore Trees", "Questions in a World of Blue", "A Real Indication" and "The Black Dog Runs at Night", and was the soundtrack's producer alongside Badalamenti.Upon its release, Fire Walk with Me's soundtrack charted in the United States, peaking at number 173 on the Billboard 200. Lust for Life is the second solo studio album by American musician Iggy Pop, released on September 9, 1977, through RCA Records. It was his second collaboration with English musician and friend David Bowie after The Idiot, released in March the same year. Shortly after Bowie released his own album Low in January, Pop went on a tour to support The Idiot with Bowie as his keyboardist. At the tour's conclusion, Pop and Bowie regrouped in Berlin to record the former's next solo album.Lust for Life was recorded at Hansa Studio by the Wall in West Berlin from May to June 1977, with production being handled by Bowie, Pop, and engineer Colin Thurston. The touring band of Pop, Bowie, guitarist Ricky Gardiner, and brothers Tony Fox and Hunt Sales on bass and drums, respectively, comprised the primary lineup for the album. After The Idiot was mostly composed by Bowie, Pop was adamant about having more control over Lust for Life, often composing his own arrangements, including for "Sixteen". This resulted in a hard rock and proto-punk sound more akin to his older style with the band the Stooges. Pop would use Bowie's arrangements for some songs, including the well-known title track.Upon release, Lust for Life received little promotion from RCA but nevertheless peaked at number 28 on the UK Albums Chart and remained Pop's highest-charting album there until 2016's Post Pop Depression. Next in the compiler hotseat for seminal mix series ‘Back to Mine’ is the legendary DJ and producer Fatboy Slim. My Life in the Bush of Ghosts is a studio album by Brian Eno and David Byrne, released in February 1981. It was Byrne's first album without his band Talking Heads. The album integrates sampled vocals and found sounds, African and Middle Eastern rhythms, and electronic music techniques. It was recorded before Eno and Byrne's work on Talking Heads' 1980 album Remain in Light, but problems clearing samples delayed its release by several months.The extensive sampling on My Life is considered innovative, though its influence on later sample-based music genres is debated.Eno and Byrne first worked together on More Songs About Buildings and Food, the 1978 album by Byrne's band Talking Heads. My Life in the Bush of Ghosts was primarily recorded during a break between the Talking Heads albums Fear of Music (1979) and Remain in Light (1980), both produced by Eno. Eno had also recently recorded Fourth World, Vol. 1: Possible Musics with Jon Hassell, who intended to collaborate with Eno and Byrne on the album, but could not afford to fly to California for the recording sessions. Upon hearing the tapes, Hassell felt "outraged" at what he felt was an appropriation of his music.Eno described My Life as a "vision of a psychedelic Africa". Rather than conventional pop or rock singing, most of the vocals are sampled from other sources, such as commercial recordings of Arabic singers, radio disc jockeys, and an exorcist. Musicians had previously used similar sampling techniques, but, according to Guardian writer Dave Simpson, sampling had never before been used "to such cataclysmic effect". In 2001, Eno cited Holger Czukay's experiments with dictaphones and shortwave radios as earlier examples of sampling. He felt that the "difference was, I suppose, that I decided to make [sampling] the lead vocal".The release was delayed while legal rights were sought for the large number of samples used on the album.A sample of an evangelist Kathryn Kuhlman performing an exorcism intended for "The Jezebel Spirit" was refused by her estate as they objected to the context it was to be used in.The album title is derived from Amos Tutuola's 1954 novel My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. According to Byrne's 2006 liner notes, neither he nor Eno had read the novel, but they felt the title "seemed to encapsulate what this record was about".Soon after the album was released, the Islamic Council of Great Britain objected to the use of samples of Qur'anic recital in the track "Qu'ran", considering it blasphemy. Byrne and Eno removed the track from later pressings. In 2006, Byrne said:We thought, "Okay, in deference to somebody's religion, we'll take it off." You could probably argue for and against monkeying with something like that. But I think we were certainly feeling very cautious about this whole thing. We made a big effort to try and clear all the voices, and make sure everybody was okay with everything ... So I think in that sense we reacted maybe with more caution than we had to.Two tracks in the album, "Regiment" and "The Carrier", sampled the voice of Lebanese singer Dunya Younes (credited in the album as Dunya Yunis). Although Byrne and Eno took care to clear it with the label that released the album they took the sample from and also paid for the sampling, Dunya Younes had no idea that her voice was used and only found out in 2017. When the documentary filmmaker Brett Morgen hit his eighth month of writer’s block on an epic project about David Bowie, he decided it was time to hit the road. With just a few hours’ notice, he left his home in Los Angeles one morning and grabbed the first flight to Albuquerque, where Bowie had filmed “The Man Who Fell to Earth” (1976). When Morgen arrived, he took a cab to the train station and hopped aboard an Amtrak, heading west.
“Being in transit was an important theme in David’s life,” he said. “He talked a lot about riding the rails through the West. And a lot of songs that he wrote happened during some of his trips across America.”
Morgen pulled out his notes; his phone, packed with all the albums; and his copy of “The Hero With a Thousand Faces” by Joseph Campbell.“I was thinking about ‘The Iliad,’” he said, “and I started to see David’s journey. Not all that dissimilar — but he was creating the storms for himself.” Suddenly, the script for his film, already three years in the making, began flowing.

Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence is the soundtrack from the film of the same name, released on 1 May 1983 in Japan and towards the end of August 1983 in the UK. It was composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto, who also starred in the film. It was the first film score that Sakamoto composed (although it was released several weeks after the film Daijōbu, My Friend, for which he also composed the music).
Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film has since become a cult classic, largely due to its soundtrack. For the film's soundtrack, Sakamoto won the 1984 BAFTA Award for Best Film Music as well as the 1984 Mainichi Film Award for Best Film Score. After touring around the world for nearly a year and headlining festival dates in front of 30,000 to 90,000 fans, Bowie wanted to perform several gigs -- on the weekend and within driving distance from his current New York activities -- in a more intimate setting.And if his recent overseas shows are any indication, the Bowie setlist will be wildly eclectic, including songs he's rarely -- or never before -- performed live. Songs performed in Europe, the U.K., Russia,Israel and Japan.
Bowie was earning rave notices for his portrayal of Andy Warhol in the Miramax film Basquiat about the late New York painter Jean Michel Basquiat. Of Bowie's performance,Daily Variety enthused, "...probably best of all,David Bowie in a brilliant Andy Warhol impersonation," while The Hollywood Reporter noted: " Bowie, (Benicio)Del Toro and (Michael) Wincott are all superb." In fact, writer and long time Warhol associate Bob Colacello told USA Today after the 7/31 New York premiere: Bowie's Warhol is "so much like Andy it was scary." For his part, Bowie said, "I'd met him enough times so I kind of knew what (Warhol's) body language was and little idiosyncrasies of how he talked. But I don't really act, I do impersonations, so it was my impersonation of Andy."

Ziggy Stardust wrote the blueprint for David Bowie's hard-rocking glam, and Aladdin Sane essentially follows the pattern, for both better and worse. A lighter affair than Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane is actually a stranger album than its predecessor, buoyed by bizarre lounge-jazz flourishes from pianist Mick Garson and a handful of winding, vaguely experimental songs. Bowie abandons his futuristic obsessions to concentrate on the detached cool of New York and London hipsters, as on the compressed rockers "Watch That Man," "Cracked Actor," and "The Jean Genie." Bowie follows the hard stuff with the jazzy, dissonant sprawls of "Lady Grinning Soul," "Aladdin Sane," and "Time," all of which manage to be both campy and avant-garde simultaneously, while the sweepingly cinematic "Drive-In Saturday" is a soaring fusion of sci-fi doo wop and melodramatic teenage glam. He lets his paranoia slip through in the clenched rhythms of "Panic in Detroit," as well as on his oddly clueless cover of "Let's Spend the Night Together." In spite of the shadow of AIDs and reactionary political and media forces both at home and in the USA, the period 1980 1990 bore witness to a dazzling explosion of dance music that artfully drew a line from the peak of late 70s disco to the emergence of house and it's 90s glory days. The art of the 12" single, the thrill of the remix, the rise of the superclub, the electronic spark of chart pop, the challenging of gender barriers… all had their origin in the gay clubs. It's not unreasonable to make the claim that by the end of the 80s, virtually ALL chart pop music sounded like it had it's origins on the dancefloors of Heaven nightclub!

The first album was released in February 1996 in the UK and 9 July 1996 in the US. The comparatively huge fanbase for both the film and the original soundtrack prompted the release of a second soundtrack on 17 September  1997. This second album included songs from the film that did not make the cut for the first album, as well as songs that did not appear in the final film but were involved at earlier stages or were used as inspiration by the filmmakers, and one duplicate song. The popularity of the first volume led EMI to reissue it and continue to press it since 16 June 2003.
In 2007, the editors of Vanity Fair magazine ranked the original Trainspotting soundtrack as the 7th best motion picture soundtrack in history. It was ranked #17 on Entertainment Weekly's 100 Best Movie Soundtracks . Nobody's Clown  ...........Founded by producer/drummer Gabriel Rowland and singer/songwriter Victor Benavides in Altadena, CA in 2017, Los Yesterdays remained – literally – a garage band for years, a chance for the duo to create their take on the sweet soul music that enveloped childhood experience as young Chicanos in LA. 
In a Billboard article about them and their scene, it was noted - “…there is a generations-long appreciation for sweet soul music among California’s Latino communities. Eastern Los Angeles teens.... helped foster a love of sweet soul in the early ‘60s by covering soulful ballads by artists like James Brown... Those sounds.... were kept alive by record collectors and people who spent evenings cruising along East Los boulevards."
A chance meeting between Rowland and Now-Again’s Egon at a barbecue hosted by Beastie Boys’ producer Mario C got them talking about their favorite sweet soul 45s. Rowland pulled out his phone and played the first Los Yesterdays track he and Benavides created – “Mr. Yesterday” – and Egon immediately offered them an opportunity on his label. This was followed by an offer from Daptone’s Gabe Roth for his Penrose imprint.  Now, after a series of singles including an unlikely Tik-Tok hit “Nobody’s Clown” and work with Trish Toledo, Los Yesterdays will issue their debut album, Frozen in Time. Los Yesterdays, a Latin soul artist cut from the Joe Bataan/Delfonics/James Brown cloth that feels like it could have been recorded decades ago.Opening with a serene harp, “Nobody’s Clown” settles into a slithering and sexy salsa beat punctuated by horns, more harp, and Spanish guitar to create a pensive ballad that feels delivered via time warp. (It’s a testament to the timeless nature of the song that TikTok has latched on to it hard.) The title track leans into classic Motown soul, recalling immortal classics like Billy Paul’s “Me and Mrs. Jones” or Aaron Neville’s “Tell it Like it Is.” “Something Happened” starts with a piano riff straight out of the Carole King playbook and moves into an unexpected Latin swing—just add a little conga and the undeniable scraping of the güiro to make the influence all the more obvious. The entire record continues on in the same direction, with echoes of Gamble & Huff and Philadelphia soul, all filtered through the pop-leaning tendencies of Fania Records and artists like Ray Baretto, Willie Bobo, and War.

Los Yesterdays

Ready, Set Go! (Live, Riverside Studios ’03) is a recording of Bowie’s Sept. 8, 2003, interactive music satellite event. It took place at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, London, and played in 86 theaters in 26 countries and featured a Q&A with Bowie.
The special one-off concert featured Bowie’s first-ever live performance of his then-new album Reality. The special one-off live concert was beamed via satellite Monday, September 8 from London’s Riverside Studios, simultaneously to 50,000 fans in 86 cinemas in 26 countries around the planet from Hong Kong to Helsinki. There were 14 screens in Paris alone dedicated to the show.
BOWIE thrilled fans across Europe with a spectacular, first-ever live performance of his brand new album REALITY, due September 16 on ISO/Columbia Records. The performance of the album was followed by precedent-setting interactive question and answer session between BOWIE and fans in cinemas in London, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brussels and Milan.
The event marked many firsts in technological terms: it was the biggest ever non-TV satellite broadcast, the first ever interactive cinema event and the first live satellite event in 5.1 DTS surround sound, which was overseen by longtime BOWIE collaborator, Tony Visconti. Lexi Jones or Lexi Bowie, born Alexandria Zahra Jones on August 15, 2000 in New York, is the daughter of British singer-songwriter David Bowie and his second wife, American model of Somali origin Iman  .     Lexi Jones is the half-sister of film director Duncan Jones, born twenty-nine years earlier from Bowie's marriage to Angela Barnett, and of Zulekha Haywood, daughter of Iman and basketball player Spencer Haywood, twenty-two years his senior .    After a childhood protected from fame and the media, she lived in 2018 with her mother in the SoHo district of New York and seemed destined for an artistic career (painting, poetry, etc.). She moved to Los Angeles in 2020 where she works as a photographer and fashion designer. The late Heroes icon sadly lost his private battle to cancer in 2016, but his youngest child - who he shared with model, entrepreneur philanthropist Iman - has since been showing the apple doesn't fall far from the tree when it comes to musical talent.
24-year-old Lexi, who was born Alexandria Zahra Jones on 15th August 2000, quietly shared her record Xandri on Wednesday 2nd April, after sharing teasers on her Instagram.   The album artwork appears sees a two-headed image on the cover, while it's title Xandri is derived from Greek name Alexandros, Xander and indeed Xandria and means "defender of humankind".    Lexi has always had a creative side, selling her artwork online as far back as 2020 and even going on to create customised clothing and accessories.
In 2023, Lexi first shared her vocal talents on YouTube, with a video of her singing a rendition of her father's iconic hit 1969 track Starman, which is taken from his seminal album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars as well as a sweet rendition of Life On Mars?, which watch first released in Bowie's 1971 album Hunky Dory. June 8 1997 . Bowie performed at the Stadion am Bieberer Berg in Offenbach am Main, Germany, on 8 June 1997, as part of his Earthling Tour. The show was part of the Go! Bang Festival 1997.Superb Bowie Performance From The Earthling Tour. David Bowie’s 20th studio album was originally released in February 1997 on Arista Records. Earthling showcased an electronica-influenced sound partly inspired by the industrial and drum and bass culture of the 1990s. It was the first album Bowie self-produced since 1974’s Diamond Dogs.
The Earthling Tour started on 7 June 1997 at Flughafen Blankensee in Lübeck, Germany, continuing through Europe and North America before reaching a conclusion in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 7 November 1997. On August 14, ‘97, Bowie performed at Hungary’s Student Island Festival in Budapest, where he put on a quite extraordinary show, accompanied as he was by Reeves Gabrels on guitar, Gail Ann Dorsey on bass, Zack Alford on drums and Mike Garson on keyboards. Playing just a few tracks from the new record plus a fine selection of back catalogue gems, the entire show was broadcast, both across Eastern Europe and indeed in the US too on selected FM stations.

David Bowie performs  some of his classics at the Isle of Wight Festival 13th June 2004. Performed during his A Reality Tour, the tour being the longest of David Bowie's career. This is one of the last live performances of his career, having suffered a heart attack in late June 2004 forcing the cancellation of subsequent dates towards the end of the tour. He retired from performing live in 2006.

B owie performed at Newcastle’s City Hall on 14 June 1978, as part of the Isolar II Tour.Bowie says “Anybody home?” before introducing his band at the start of the second part of the show.
This comment is also referred to in the Bowie Concert Tapes book, as are the aforementioned cuts,which confirms this as the Newcastle show from June 16th.
Bowie played three consecutive nights at this venue: 14th/15th/16th, before heading off to Glasgow for a four night stint.

    ''The gig that night was amazing. The stage lights reflected from the walls and ceiling lighting up the faces of the whole audience and it looked as if David had invited a crowd of friends along for a wild party.
    There was an electric atmosphere, the place seemed to bring performers and crowd together. A balcony ran round three sides of the hall and inevitably one guy jumped down onto an amp, then onto the stage, recovered his balance and made a dash. He threw his arms around David three seconds before Eric and Tony got there then was gently escorted off and back to the auditorium. I think you could say he did it for everyone in the place!''

"Major Tom is a fictional astronaut referenced in David Bowie's songs "Space Oddity", "Ashes to Ashes","Hallo Spaceboy","New Killer Star" and "Blackstar".Although never mentioned in the song, an astronaut, possibly Major Tom, does make an appearance in the music video for the song "Slow Burn"..German singer Peter Schilling retold and continued the story of Major Tom in his late 1982 release "Major Tom (völlig losgelöst)", which covered as instrumental by Max Greger.The Tea Party created a song entitled "Empty Glass". The song is written from the perspective of an unnamed person who is questioning Major Tom intensely about the purpose of life. The song also references Ground Control and the Bowie phrases "star man" and "diamond dogs".Finally K.I.A. created a song entitled "Mrs. Major Tom'' sung by Larissa Gomes.
