Recorded in July 1981, the song was written by Bowie with Italian producer Giorgio Moroder. The 1981 recording has been described as one of "the finest of Bowie's recordings of the 1980s". A re-recorded version of the song, created a year and a half later, appears on the album Let's Dance (1983). The director Paul Schrader engaged Bowie for a theme song in 1981, with Moroder having already recorded most of the music. Bowie was to put lyrics to the main theme. The B-side is a Moroder-only instrumental which featured no input from Bowie.
The song itself, in keeping with the dark tone of the film, has some goth rock influences, with Bowie singing in a deep baritone croon while being backed up by a female chorus. Bowie's octave leap on the word "gasoline" has been called "a magnificent moment" and "among the most thrilling moments he ever committed to tape".

The "Real Cool World"  by David Bowie Released on 10 August 1992, it represented his first new solo material since the dissolution of the band Tin Machine. The track marked a reunion with Let's Dance producer Nile Rodgers, with whom Bowie began working in the first half of 1992. "Real Cool World" was the first song to come out of their year-long collaboration. After releasing this song, Bowie intended to go back to his band Tin Machine to record a third album, but when the band fell apart, Bowie and Rodgers instead recorded and produced the songs for Bowie's next solo album, Black Tie White Noise (1993). David Live is the first official live album by David Bowie, originally released by RCA Records in 29 October 1974. The album was recorded in July of that year, on the initial leg of Bowie's Diamond Dogs Tour, at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. The second leg, a more soul-oriented affair following recording sessions in Philadelphia for the bulk of Young Americans, would be renamed 'the Soul tour', as reflected on the live releases, Cracked Actor (Live Los Angeles '74) (2017) and I'm Only Dancing (The Soul Tour 74) (2020).The album catches Bowie in transition from the Ziggy Stardust/Aladdin Sane glam-rock era of his career to the 'plastic soul' of Young Americans.[While the cover featured a picture of Bowie in his latest soul threads – baggy trouser suit complete with shoulder pads and braces from October 1974 – the music was recorded in July of that year when he was showcasing his two most recent studio albums of original material, Diamond Dogs and Aladdin Sane, as well as selected favourites from Ziggy Stardust and earlier.The tour was Bowie's most ambitious to date, featuring a giant set designed to evoke "Hunger City", the post-apocalyptic setting for Diamond Dogs, and his largest band, led by Michael Kamen. In Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, Phillip Jeffries, played by David Bowie, suddenly exits an elevator in the Philadelphia FBI office, two years after his disappearance. He hurries to the office of his former superior, Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole and starts raving in a loud and disturbed manner, referring at one stage to Special Agent Cooper and yelling “Who do you think this is, there?”Jeffries goes on to narrate where he has been since his disappearance. He mentions names and incidents that are unfamiliar to those listening. His words are illustrated by the intrusion of a ghost transmission showing a small group of characters, including The Man From Another Place and BOB, in a series of strange rooms.He disappears into thin air once again after announcing “I found something... and then there they were!”Jeffries is frequently mentioned in the 2017 series, which reveals that he was the original leader of the Blue Rose Task Force and was involved in the first Blue Rose case, alongside Cole. An unseen individual identifying as him assigns Ray Monroe to kill Cooper's doppelgänger. Albert Rosenfield also informs Cole that he was contacted by an individual claiming to be Jeffries, which led to the killing of an agent stationed in Colombia. Cole later re-experiences Jeffries' sudden reappearance in a dream and remembers Jeffries' comment about Cooper, implying that Cooper may have been an imposter.With the death of Bowie, Jeffries is depicted as a grey orb right by a giant steaming kettle in a room above the convenience store. Cooper's doppelganger approached it, after receiving info on his whereabouts from Ray Monroe. Dale Cooper later encounters Jeffries to access 1989 to rescue Laura Palmer in Part 17.The soundtrack to Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me was released on Warner Bros. Records on August 11, 1992. It includes music by Angelo Badalamenti, who had composed and conducted the music on the television series and its original soundtrack.In addition to his instrumental compositions, Fire Walk with Me's soundtrack features vocal accompaniment to Badalamenti's songs by jazz vocalist Jimmy Scott and dream pop singer Julee Cruise. Badalamenti performs vocals on "A Real Indication" and "The Black Dog Runs at Night", two songs by the Thought Gang, a musical project between Badalamenti and David Lynch. Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of All the Young Dudes, the 5th studio album by the English rock band Mott the Hoople, released in 8 September 1972.All the Young Dudes was a turning point for the then-struggling British band. Mott the Hoople were on the verge of breaking up when David Bowie stepped in and gave them the song "All the Young Dudes". Bowie also produced the album, which took Mott "from potential has-beens to avatars of the glam rock movement". The title track, "All the Young Dudes", was released as a single prior to the album and charted worldwide, becoming the "ultimate '70s glitterkid anthem". "Sweet Jane", a cover of the Velvet Underground song from their 1970 album Loaded, was issued as a single In 2003, the album was ranked No. 491 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Transformer, the second solo studio album by American recording artist Lou Reed Released on November 8, 1972 and Recorded on August 1972. Lust for Life is the second solo studio album by American musician Iggy Pop, released on September 9, 1977, through RCA Records. It was his second collaboration with English musician and friend David Bowie after The Idiot, released in March the same year. Shortly after Bowie released his own album Low in January, Pop went on a tour to support The Idiot with Bowie as his keyboardist. At the tour's conclusion, Pop and Bowie regrouped in Berlin to record the former's next solo album.Lust for Life was recorded at Hansa Studio by the Wall in West Berlin from May to June 1977, with production being handled by Bowie, Pop, and engineer Colin Thurston. The touring band of Pop, Bowie, guitarist Ricky Gardiner, and brothers Tony Fox and Hunt Sales on bass and drums, respectively, comprised the primary lineup for the album. After The Idiot was mostly composed by Bowie, Pop was adamant about having more control over Lust for Life, often composing his own arrangements, including for "Sixteen". This resulted in a hard rock and proto-punk sound more akin to his older style with the band the Stooges. Pop would use Bowie's arrangements for some songs, including the well-known title track.Upon release, Lust for Life received little promotion from RCA but nevertheless peaked at number 28 on the UK Albums Chart and remained Pop's highest-charting album there until 2016's Post Pop Depression. It also peaked at number 8 in the Netherlands and number 120 on the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart. Critically, Lust for Life was well-received, with many praising Pop's energetic performance throughout and his greater role compared to The Idiot; the former would later be regarded as one of his best works and has appeared on several best album lists. Next in the compiler hotseat for seminal mix series ‘Back to Mine’ is the legendary DJ and producer Fatboy Slim. Having sold over 10 million records and embarked on a number of sold out arena tours, the esteemed record collector and all round great selector delves deep into his weighty collection at his home to create a heady journey of funk and soul. The collection opens with Dave Barker & Ansel Collins ‘Monkey Spanner’ – a reggae single released in 1971 from the Kingston based duo working for the infamous producer Lee “Scratch” Perry.
There are a few rare finds, Donal Leace ‘Today Won’t Come Again’, Wind ‘Grooving With Mr. Bloe’ and Googie Rene Combo ‘Smokey Joe’s La La’. And the most recognisable for many no doubt is Betty Chung’s 1968 classic ‘Bang Bang’ thanks to the vocals of the Nancy Sinatra cover being sampled in the Audio Bullys rework in 2005.

The first Stars On 45 single sold more than 5 million copies worldwide and topped the charts in many countries in early 1981: The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, #2 in the United Kingdom and ultimately topped the US Billboard Hot 100 on 20th June 1981.The project originated in the Summer of 1980, when record label manager Willem van Kooten heard about a Canadian 12”-single, which featured a collection of hits from the 60s and 70s. Among them was Shocking Blue’s Venus – with the rights owned by Van Kooten - and it being an illegally bootleg record, Van Kooten did not know anything about this use. He contacted record producer and former Golden Earrings-drummer Jaap Eggermont to ask if he was able to copy that counterfeited record – with all rights cleared.Together with arranger Martin Duiser, Eggermont immediately contacted some of the best Dutch session players, such as guitarist Hans Hollestelle, bassist Fred Jansen and singers Hans Vermeulen, Okkie Huijsdens, Arnie Treffers, Tony Sherman, Albert West, Peter Vermeij, Bas Muijs, Cees Bergman and Jody Pijper.The recordings resulted in two singles and two albums as Stars On 45, followed by The Superstars, which yielded both a single and album in 1982. Highlights include a previously unreleased live medley of 'The Jean Genie/Love Me Do/The Jean Genie' recorded live at the final Ziggy Stardust concert at Hammersmith Odeon in 1973, featuring Jeff Beck on guitar. Other rarities include an early version of the Hunky Dory favourite 'Quicksand' and a previously unreleased live version of 'Rock 'n' Roll With Me' from the legendary 1974 'Soul Tour'.
When the documentary filmmaker Brett Morgen hit his eighth month of writer’s block on an epic project about David Bowie, he decided it was time to hit the road. With just a few hours’ notice, he left his home in Los Angeles one morning and grabbed the first flight to Albuquerque, where Bowie had filmed “The Man Who Fell to Earth” (1976). When Morgen arrived, he took a cab to the train station and hopped aboard an Amtrak, heading west.
“Being in transit was an important theme in David’s life,” he said. “He talked a lot about riding the rails through the West. And a lot of songs that he wrote happened during some of his trips across America.”
Morgen pulled out his notes; his phone, packed with all the albums; and his copy of “The Hero With a Thousand Faces” by Joseph Campbell.“I was thinking about ‘The Iliad,’” he said, “and I started to see David’s journey. Not all that dissimilar — but he was creating the storms for himself.” Suddenly, the script for his film, already three years in the making, began flowing.

Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence is the soundtrack from the film of the same name, released on 1 May 1983 in Japan and towards the end of August 1983 in the UK. It was composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto, who also starred in the film. It was the first film score that Sakamoto composed (although it was released several weeks after the film Daijōbu, My Friend, for which he also composed the music).
Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film has since become a cult classic, largely due to its soundtrack. For the film's soundtrack, Sakamoto won the 1984 BAFTA Award for Best Film Music as well as the 1984 Mainichi Film Award for Best Film Score. David Sylvian contributed lyrics and vocals on "Forbidden Colours", a vocal version of the main theme, "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence", both of which were released as singles. Ziggy Stardust wrote the blueprint for David Bowie's hard-rocking glam, and Aladdin Sane essentially follows the pattern, for both better and worse. A lighter affair than Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane is actually a stranger album than its predecessor, buoyed by bizarre lounge-jazz flourishes from pianist Mick Garson and a handful of winding, vaguely experimental songs. Bowie abandons his futuristic obsessions to concentrate on the detached cool of New York and London hipsters, as on the compressed rockers "Watch That Man," "Cracked Actor," and "The Jean Genie." Bowie follows the hard stuff with the jazzy, dissonant sprawls of "Lady Grinning Soul," "Aladdin Sane," and "Time," all of which manage to be both campy and avant-garde simultaneously, while the sweepingly cinematic "Drive-In Saturday" is a soaring fusion of sci-fi doo wop and melodramatic teenage glam. He lets his paranoia slip through in the clenched rhythms of "Panic in Detroit," as well as on his oddly clueless cover of "Let's Spend the Night Together." Nobody's Clown  ...........Founded by producer/drummer Gabriel Rowland and singer/songwriter Victor Benavides in Altadena, CA in 2017, Los Yesterdays remained – literally – a garage band for years, a chance for the duo to create their take on the sweet soul music that enveloped childhood experience as young Chicanos in LA. 
In a Billboard article about them and their scene, it was noted - “…there is a generations-long appreciation for sweet soul music among California’s Latino communities. Eastern Los Angeles teens.... helped foster a love of sweet soul in the early ‘60s by covering soulful ballads by artists like James Brown... Those sounds.... were kept alive by record collectors and people who spent evenings cruising along East Los boulevards."
A chance meeting between Rowland and Now-Again’s Egon at a barbecue hosted by Beastie Boys’ producer Mario C got them talking about their favorite sweet soul 45s. Rowland pulled out his phone and played the first Los Yesterdays track he and Benavides created – “Mr. Yesterday” – and Egon immediately offered them an opportunity on his label. This was followed by an offer from Daptone’s Gabe Roth for his Penrose imprint.  Now, after a series of singles including an unlikely Tik-Tok hit “Nobody’s Clown” and work with Trish Toledo, Los Yesterdays will issue their debut album, Frozen in Time. Los Yesterdays, a Latin soul artist cut from the Joe Bataan/Delfonics/James Brown cloth that feels like it could have been recorded decades ago.Opening with a serene harp, “Nobody’s Clown” settles into a slithering and sexy salsa beat punctuated by horns, more harp, and Spanish guitar to create a pensive ballad that feels delivered via time warp. (It’s a testament to the timeless nature of the song that TikTok has latched on to it hard.) The title track leans into classic Motown soul, recalling immortal classics like Billy Paul’s “Me and Mrs. Jones” or Aaron Neville’s “Tell it Like it Is.” “Something Happened” starts with a piano riff straight out of the Carole King playbook and moves into an unexpected Latin swing—just add a little conga and the undeniable scraping of the güiro to make the influence all the more obvious. The entire record continues on in the same direction, with echoes of Gamble & Huff and Philadelphia soul, all filtered through the pop-leaning tendencies of Fania Records and artists like Ray Baretto, Willie Bobo, and War.

His career spanned 70 years, with 28 Grammy Awards won out of 80 nominations, and a Grammy Legend Award in 1992.On November 3, 2024, Jones died at his home in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles at the age of 91. Claudia Lennear is arguably one of the greatest back-up singers in modern popular music, appearing on albums with many rock and roll legends and receiving numerous credits to her name over her lengthy career. Originally from Rhode Island and raised in a Catholic family, Claudia moved to Pomona, California in her senior year of high school. It was about this time that time music began to have a greater presence in her life. After local gigging around Los Angeles with Doo-wop group, The Superbs, Claudia passed an audition with Ike & Tina Turner, becoming an Ikette in their group.

Since the late sixties, the strength and fragility of Ms. Lennear’s voice has been featured on albums from the likes of Stephen Stills, Humble Pie, Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, and Ry Cooder. Claudia took part in George Harrison’s Concert for Bangladesh in 1971 and was the inspiration for the Rolling Stones song, “Brown Sugar” from the album Sticky Fingers, as well as David Bowie’s 1973 album cut “Lady Grinning Soul” from Aladdin Sane. In 1973, Claudia recorded an album under her own name entitled Phew for Warner Bros. Records, which includes her penned song “Sister Angela” as a paean to Angela Davis; Ms. Davis continues to be an influential figure and a political heroine for Claudia. Having worked with rock legends over the years and through her own music, Claudia’s voice is featured on the radio or streaming online nearly every day, every hour, every minute, on every continent, even right now!

Ms. Lennear has also been featured in several major films. She was a featured singer in Joe Cocker’s 1970 documentary, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, appeared in the 1971 film, Vanishing Point with Bonnie Bramlett and Rita Coolidge, provided the distorted voice for Linda Blair in the Academy Award-nominated film, The Exorcist, provided ambient sound in the Academy Award-winning film, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, and sang the title song “Take Me Higher” in the Academy Award-winning film Klute. In 1974, Claudia co-stared alongside Clint Eastwood playing a secretary in the movie, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. Claudia also appeared in the 1974 issue of Playboy magazine in a pictorial titled “Brown Sugar”. More recently, Claudia was featured in 2013’s Academy Award-winning documentary film 20 Feet From Stardom.

By the early 1980’s, Claudia stepped away from the music industry to embark on a career as an educator. Early in her life, Claudia’s career goal was to become an interpreter at the United Nations, and developed a keen interest in languages in parallel to her passion for music. Claudia currently teaches Spanish, French, and English at Mt. San Antonio College where she is an engaging and attentive professor to her students.

Today, Claudia still pursues music and is active on many fronts. In April 2019, Claudia was inducted into the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame. She has recently performed with Jackson Browne at the Grammy Museum and sings with The Ash Grove Players, an Americana Roots music band. Claudia is currently working on an album with blues legend, Taj Mahal, with a release date slated for early 2020.The original Lady Grinning Soul that Bowie was singing about was Claudia Lennear , one of the most romantic in Bowie’s songbook, with piano glissandos some have compared to Franz Liszt.. Claudia Lennear Bowie's Lady Grinning soul

In 1987, David Bowie played a concert near the Reichstag in West Berlin, a stone’s throw away from the Berlin Wall, the much-hated and despised structure that split the German capital city in two. It was a concert that many Berliners on both sides of the border believe helped harden people’s resolve to bring down the hated barrier that had kept families apart for forty years. The concert was part of Bowie’s Glass Spider Tour, which at that point was his longest and most expensive tour. During his show in Berlin, Bowie’s performance was so loud that a huge crowd began to gather on the East side of the Wall to hear his performance better. It is rumoured that the speakers were turned slightly so as to be more audible in the East part of the city. As the concert progressed, Bowie could hear the East Germans behind the Iron Curtain singing along in stark defiance of their tyrannical rulers. The show’s importance, performing to two separated cities at once, clearly was not lost on Bowie. Never one to miss the occasion to highlight the unifying power of art, Bowie called out to East Berlin before playing ‘Heroes’.

Scarlett Johansson Anywhere I Lay My Head,Featuring David Bowie

Going to the disco might not seem like the most political act, but across the world the dance floor has often been the place where old norms are challenged and new identities forged. In post-independence West Africa, dancing to Cuban music gave young Congolese, Senegalese, and Malians the opportunity to be part of a modern world while embracing their anti-imperialist stance. Similarly, in ’70s America, disco music was intertwined with calls for equality, acceptance, and liberation. The examples are endless, and Soundway’s new compilation Ayo Ke Disco: Boogie, Pop & Funk from the South China Sea (1974​–88) highlights this transformative power of music across Southeast Asia in the ’70s and ’80s.
Translating to “Let’s go to the disco” in Malay and Indonesian, Ayo Ke Disco is a collection of rare tracks that reflect the social and political shifts in an era defined by the end of the Vietnam War, the repressive regimes of the Marcos era in the Philippines and Suharto’s authoritarian rule in Indonesia, and the economic boom of the “Asian Tigers.” It was a time for rebuilding, resistance, and openness to the world, when different cultures merged on the dance floors of bustling discos.
The album’s opener exemplifies this fusion. Originally an orchestral disco-funk instrumental by the prolific Malaysian composer Ahmad Nawab, “Dahaga” is given a gritty, guitar-driven rework by Borneo-born singer Fatimah Razak, who adds sultry vocals and Hindustani instruments in place of the usual ’70s-style percussion. Fellow Indonesian band Black Brothers were also known for their wide range of influences, from rock to reggae, disco, jazz, and the strings-based local style known as kroncong, as well as for their lyrics in both Indonesian and pidgin that championed indigenous rights and Black Power. On the smoldering “Mangge Mangge,” distorted guitars weave around sturdy basslines, while raw blaring horns, orchestral synths, and knotty percussion coalesce into a magnetic groove.
As countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines emerged from colonial rule or repressive regimes, they began to redefine their national identities by turning back to traditional cultures while also absorbing influences from abroad. Renowned Filipino drummer Jun Regalado for example adds the melodic clang of the kulintang to stirring trumpet riffs and sleek, modern arrangements on the 1977 track “Pinoy Funk.” The Rollies, who had started their career performing covers of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Bee Gees, began experimenting with both traditional instruments and modern music technology like the vocoder and synthesizers, which give “Disco” a futuristic edge that fuses classic melodies with hyper-synthetic sounds.  1	Fatimah Razak –Dahaga

The gig was a well crafted showcase for the Thin White Duke ‘s inimitable imagination , and the songs from his latest album, Outside, though not up to his past genius, are complex, challenging works in themselves.
Bowie began his set on a downbeat note, easing the crowd into the material from Outside, and giving them a grace period to pick up the plot of his latest opus. Heart’s Filthy Lesson, The Voyeur Of Utter Destruction (As Beauty) and I’ve Never Been To Oxford Town may have unwieldy titles, but they settled lightly on the ears, giving cause to hope that tonight’s show might actually become a memorable exhibition. Scary Monsters kept us in touch with the familiar, but new versions of Andy Warhol and Man Who Sold The World reminded us that we were no longer in the 70’s.
Bowie’s movements were fluid and forceful, and his body language was a mixture of defiance and self-sacrifice. His every grand gesture underlined the demise of pop.
In this context, Boys Keep Swinging seemed like a skeletal chant, and Hello Spaceboy sounded like the final farewell of Major Tom. He needn’t have bothered doing Jacques Brel’s My Death – we got the message, and many of us had already given up and gone home.
Under Pressure was poignant in the light of Freddie Mercury’s recent musical exhumation, while Moonage Daydream was like a sudden shooting star from Mars. Bowie’s been dead too long, and the resurrection might have come just a little too late.      ‘The Motel’

Back on top and Bowie rocked hard with a set full of his finest non-hits.
From Ziggy's finest Moonage Daydream to a very weird jazzy thing named A Small Plot Of Land, Bowie proved that he's aging most disgracefully.
No hits - he put them all to bed on the Sound and Vision tour - but bags of style and character. Highlights included a moving homage to the ultimate in alienation and persecution, Teenage Wildlife, and a bit of honest-to-goodness fun at the expense of one of his old acoustic numbers, Andy Warhol.

Subsequently, Mott the Hoople embarked on the most commercially rewarding phase of their career....once a youthful sounding David Bowie has introduced the band, the concert then begins with Mott's version of "Sweet Jane".  Although the Philadelphia concert includes renditions of more introspective, down-tempo fare such as "Sea Diver" and the poignant "Hymn for the Dudes", which center on Hunter's vocal performance, much of the set is given over to the self-assured, guitar-driven rock and roll that showcases a band at the height of its powers. Particularly noteworthy are "One of the Boys" and "Sucker", which saw the group venturing into the realm of glam.... The high point of the set, however, is the anthemic "All the Young Dudes", for which Bowie joins the band on-stage adding a distinctive vocal element to the track. On the otherwise outstanding "Sweet Angeline" from Brain Capers there's a moment of cringe-inducing interaction with the crowd (courtesy of Ian Hunter) concerning the, ahem, ladies. And, in addition to overstaying its welcome somewhat, the raucous cover of "Honky Tonk Women" is marred by its incorporation of some communal singing, complete with solo audience cameos immortalized for posterity in all their horror. OK, a good time was clearly had by all and the chemistry between Mott and their audience is plain to hear, but during these fleeting instants the proceedings lapse into Spinal Tap-dom and sound embarrassingly dated.

It was the second of three soundtrack releases in which Bowie had a major role, following Christiane F. and preceding The Buddha of Suburbia..Director Jim Henson approached Bowie to take part in the film in 1983 during Bowie's Serious Moonlight Tour, when he showed Bowie early designs for the movie and a tape of The Dark Crystal. Bowie had wanted to make music for a children's film and saw this as his chance. Bowie recorded five songs for the film: "Underground", "Magic Dance", "Chilly Down", "As The World Falls Down", and "Within You". The film's theme song, "Underground", features on the soundtrack twice, first in an edited version that was played over the film's opening sequence and secondly in full. "Underground" was released in various territories as a single, and in certain markets was also released in an instrumental version and an extended dance mix. "Magic Dance" was released as a 12" single in the U.S. "As The World Falls Down" was initially slated for release as a follow-up single to "Underground" at Christmas in 1986, but this plan did not materialize. The only song Bowie did not perform lead vocal on is "Chilly Down", which was performed by Charles Augins, Richard Bodkin, Kevin Clash, and Danny John-Jules, the actors who voiced the 'Fire Gang' creatures in the film.The soundtrack was advertised in music trade papers such as Billboard. Steve Barron produced promotional music videos for "Underground" and "As The World Falls Down". The music video for "Underground" features Bowie as a nightclub singer who stumbles upon the world of the Labyrinth, encountering many of the creatures seen in the film. The clip for "As the World Falls Down" integrates clips from the film, using them alongside black-and-white shots of Bowie performing the song in an elegant room.Though Bowie was not heavily involved in promoting Labyrinth, Jim Henson was nonetheless grateful that he had made the promotional music videos, saying, "I think it's the best thing he could have done for the film."Barron's videos for "As The World Falls Down" and "Underground" so impressed Henson that he recruited Barron to direct his television series The Storyteller.
The Labyrinth soundtrack has been included on lists of the top 50 movie soundtracks by Paste magazine[ and Gigwise.
According to Bowie biographer David Buckley in 2015, the Labyrinth soundtrack was Bowie's third-best selling iTunes album in the United Kingdom.
