Colombian brothers Dem Boyz return to Unnamed & Unknown for their full label debut, featuring a remix from Brazilian duo Lit Square.

Following their feature on our ‘NYE 2022 VA’, the Casas Brothers, AKA Dem Boyz, are back on the label with a full EP for the first time. Joining them on remix duties, Brazilian duo Lit Square makes their latest first solo appearance since collaborating with 4MATIK on our ‘#4’ VA last year. 

‘Bonus Tracks’ opens the release on a promising note with rolling grooves and rhythmic sub-bass, setting the tone for the rest of the EP. Watertight drum work and crisp percussive layers add plenty of cadence to the mix whilst tonal elements ripple throughout the track. Breaking into the tracks bridges, be ready for quirky melodies and creative vocal cuts leading to punchy drops!

‘NGGYU’ is an instant classic, and you’ll know why at a certain point within the track. Another impressive display of plentiful rolling Tech prowess from end to end, the track’s bulletproof mix of rhythm and musicality is only bolstered further by an iconic vocal arrangement and catchy overall construction. 

Lit Square closes the release with their remix of ‘NGGYU’, steering it in a slightly different direction. Building around an unavoidably catchy bassline melody, the track focuses strongly on the musical element alongside that nostalgic token aspect of the vocal components. Watch out for that mammoth piano solo, what a way to end the EP!

Kappa Recordings label boss Adrian Mart joins forces with Colombian producer GAGH for their joint Black Seven Music debut with ‘No Reason’, including a remix from Guzt.

Between them, Adrian Mart & GAGH’s catalogue of releases features the likes of La Pera, Distance Music, RIM and many more. They now add Black Seven Music to the list of reputable imprints to showcase their work as they make an emphatic label debut with ‘No Reason’ alongside Guzt on remix duties.

Kicking off with the title cut, ‘No Reason’ comes in hot with weighty drum programming and rolling sub-bass whilst layers of rippling percussion float the track forwards. Swirling deep into the heart of the track is a soulful vocal hook, orbited by ominous vox loops, creative sampling, subtle pads and deepened tones as it undulates potently from start to finish. 

Guzt follows with an emphatic flip on the original, keeping the tempo at a premium from the outset. Another well-constructed core of hefty beats and scattered percussive flair drives the track forwards into an arrangement of creative fills, bubbling melodies and continuous peaks and troughs. Focusing again around that killer vocal hook, this one has all the makings of a peak-time head-turner.

Lio Mass (IT) and Stephen William are very welcome for first time to 12+1 London family with two original groovy tracks for the beginning of 2021 arrived from Italy. 'Propaganda' and 'Feelin' Myself' are the titles of the hits and the EP also includes a remix of the first song made by our Spaniard friend Daniel Lera.

Next up on Black Seven Music, Kubbo Records frontman Gustaff delivers a whopping EP in the form of ‘Back On Cluj’. Following on from releases on Lemon-Aid, Distance Music, Libero and more, The Salamanca-based artist makes his debut with two original cuts and a pair of striking remixes from Libero label boss Dan Costello, Chris Brooks and Venezuelan artist, Marlon C.



Kicking things off, the title track fits the archetypal mould of Black Seven’s foundational acoustic format. Punchy drum work collides with the scattering of hats and shakers to build a shuffling groove. Beyond that, the track has a robust and driving low-end bassline accompanied by subtle synth hits and tonal percussion. It’s all tied together with frequent injections of a memorable vocal topline - a track with the whole package indeed!



Following on nicely from the original, Libero’s Dan Costello treats us to an upbeat adaptation of the original with impressive grit and gusto. Bringing a signature slice of his imprint to the table, this quintessentially groovy remix is pacey but still somehow pleasantly nonchalant. The real magic lies within the seemingly endless layers of perfectly panned and EQ’d percussive elements that fill every frequency field on the spectrum. As much of a sensory experience as it is a dancefloor heater.



Chris Brooks takes things up a gear and a few pounds too, with his roaring re-do of the title track. A ferocious spin on an already captivating track, this remix screams peak time crammed terrace dancefloor at the top of its lungs. Climatic builds and thunderous throwdowns to tie a knot at each end of its heavyweight underbelly that pulsates from start to finish. If you like your Tech heavy, this one will pique your interest.



Taking things back deeper, ‘Wet Western’ is an interestingly creative track with a tonne of weight. Drawing for a loaded low-frequency sub that fires continuously throughout the track’s main segments, they make the perfect partner for its pounding kicks and loosely swung percussive structure. A track with a Latin presence and tribal power along with a splash of the old wild west, you’ll be collecting the bounty on this one a few times over.



Finishing strong with Marlon C’s Remix of the b-side, it comes with a bassline reminiscent of the early days of house music. Carrying an undeniably authentic slither of Chicago influence, it floats flawlessly between the remix track and segments of his creative depth - making for an experience that doesn’t tire in its enjoyment, making it a timeless piece of music.



An impressive package to continue 2021 in a big way, Gustaff’s ‘Back On Cluj’ EP (incl. Chris Brooks, Dan Costello & Marlon C Remixes) is proudly presented by Black Seven Music.
