We in Trinidad and Tobago have discovered the true meaning of happiness in life.
In fact it was no surprise that the UNSDSN's World Happiness Report for 2013 ranked us as the happiest country in the Caribbean, and the 31st in the world. Especially with factors like 'someone to count on', 'generousity', 'healthy life expectancy' and the 'freedom to make life choices' being used as measures to determine our inner joy.
Reflecting this light-hearted island atmosphere is Machel Montano's first official release for the Carnival 2014 season.
HMA (Happiest Man Alive), reminds us that the ultimate success lies inside our souls and the only path to that bliss is to simply forget the worries around us and live the life you are blessed with, an art perfected by Trinbagonians.

On this declared Machel Monday, the 24th of November, Monk Monté commemorates his 40th birthday doing what he does best; sharing his life, love, and energy in musical form with his family, loved ones, and treasured fans across the world.

As a gift to everyone on his special day, here is the perfectly named free release “Pop Ah Bottle”, which is featured on the Patrol Riddim produced by Martian Music, with additional production by Precision Productions. Also on this riddim are esteemed friends Alison Hinds, and Nadia Batson who wrote Machel’s single, alongside two cherished members of the Xtatik family, Farmer Nappy and Patrice Roberts. This though, is just but one of the many gifts the King of the Road will be sharing with his fans and followers, just stay tuned to his social media all week long for even more surprises.

It is incomparable. 

That feeling of losing yourself in masses of masqueraders and finally healing as your soul becomes whole in the surrendering and sharing of an indescribable camaraderie.

Such a perfect fusion though, can only occur through music; and it is with this thought at the forefront, Precision Productions alongside Parliament Music have come together to cement those bonds between us all, in the rapturous sounds of the “Jam Band Riddim”.

With a melody which causes bodies to mash together in harmony, only one further component is necessary to make this riddim exceptional and guarantee merriment in the streets. A diverse but spirited array of voices, something this release has in spades.

Newcomer Shradah McIntyre showcases her stunning vocals, along with versatile artist Erphaan Alves. Also lining up are the current Power Soca Monarch of Antigua and Barbuda, Ricardo Drue, with Trinidad and Tobago’s former Groovy Monarch Kees Dieffenthaller, as well as recent Soul Train Award winner Machel Montano, rounding out the outstanding performers featured.

One thing must be understood above all else; the deep connection between Soca-lovers, masqueraders, pan-people, and our Carnival, is unequivocally, true love.

The kind of bond secured in the knowledge that no matter how far one side may roam, she will always “Come Back” home.

This emotional tie with our beloved festival, is a relationship both Destra Garcia and Monk Monté have showcased in their music individually, and also particularly when they have work together.

Luckily for their fans, the King of the Road and the Queen of Bacchanal have once again combined to bring to life that intrinsic devotion, which unifies millions around the globe in song.

Sure to send spirits soaring in glee with its vivid rhythms, the track is produced by Stadic Studio Productions.

While Sagaboyz, Machel, and Destra worked jointly to soulfully describe this one of a kind bountiful relationship that could never end.

As the release illustrates, Carnival may only be here for two days, but with the inspiration she brings, the fidelity she inflames, and the ecstasy she blankets our islands with, it is easy to see why year after year, she eternally remains our one true love.

Stripped bare, unburdened by assumptions, and laid before the world to see, Monk Monté unveils a release and accompanying video, that shares the spiritual journey he has taken from his first breath of life to this very moment in time. The story follows the evolution from a young boy starting in the Pyramids of Mother Africa, making his way full circle back to the Trinity Hills of his current home in Trinidad & Tobago, paying respect to all the magical steps along the way.

The evolution of self is personified through the characters in the video, two of which are played by Machel's very own son and father.

The moving number, “On My Way”, is a soulful tale and tribute to the land and musical culture, Machel was predestined to arise from and grow within.

Powerful lyrics intertwined with riveting drums and emotional visuals, paint a poignant picture of heritage alongside an innate connection to the birthplace of Soca.

Springing from this music, produced by Starblu and co-written by Tishon Singh & Machel Montano, is that intangible warmth, and effervescent joy these islands are well known for.

This is a track which will touch hearts and lead souls to sing in euphoric frenzy, as they celebrate the blessing of just being alive right here and right now.

The video and song was launched on CNC3, one of Trinidad & Tobago's premier national broadcasters.
