"2 Blood Trails, 2 Riffles" is a podcast through which Lieu Noir introduces a selection of
tracks moving us into a post-apocalyptic landscape similar to Richard Stanley's movie
Hardware.
Lieu Noir uses this opportunity to give us exclusively "Absent Gods & Dead Immortals", the
eponymous track from his EP to come in February on his own label PIT (Paso Inferior
Tapes).
This selection also perfectly reflects the complementarity of both John Z. K.'s projects.

For Valentine's day offer her/him a noise and experimental podcast by Aho Ssan and if you are single or think Valentine is some capitalist bullshit, well turn it up anyway.

Aho Ssan (@ahossan) is the artist name of Paris based Niamké Désiré. After studying graphic design and cinema, he began to compose electronic music and create his own digital instruments. Shortly thereafter he went on to win the Foundation France television prize for his soundtrack to the film of Ingha Mago in 2015 and has worked on several projects related to IRCAM/GRM in France. His debut LP «Simulacrum» was released on the 7th of February 2020 via Subtext Recordings.
Based on the concept of Jean Baudrillard, it navigates through society’s presentation of inclusivity and equality against my own experience of growing up black in France. Aho Ssan debuted “Simulacrum” at Berlin Atonal 2019.

TREVE Series Valentine's Day Special - Aho Ssan

The 4th act of Kuboraum’s Digital Sound Residency presents Salò’s ‘La Ballata delle Mosche’. 
 
Springing from the Pasolinian macrocosm, Salò’s anthology is based on dualities: finding pleasure in the decadent, on literature and perversion, eternity and situationism, the grotesque and the visionary, fantasy and reality, the baroque and the contemporary, critique and provocation. All these juxtaposed elements come together in an allusive, murky imagery and open performative dimension which deny any form of canonicity or morality. Salo’s boundary-rejecting performances act as a medium to translate dualities into ritual practice and open a window in this performative landscape, combining psychedelic scenarios and mythological symbolism, rituality and rural iconography made of fairy tales, dreams and hypnotic scenes. 
A synaesthesia of noise music, esoteric atmospheres, baroque costumes and performance. Different artistic levels intersecting in a moment of collective creativity, which does not follow a specific path but stems from the holistic combination of different sounds.

SALÒ - La Ballata Delle Mosche

With a steady drip of releases from labels such as Great Circles, L.I.E.S., and Jack Dept., Philadephia-based M//R (Billy Werner) has carved out a uniquely penumbral club zone. Informed by a lifetime in various underground music spheres and sharpened by steady DJ gigs across the eastern US, 𝑨𝒏𝒙𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 delivers Werner's deepest cuts to date. Heavy influence from classic dubs intersects with modern bass centric genres to deliver four tracks of floating pads and faveolatic percussion, simmering atop magmatic sub-bass rhythms. The center label reads "33-45 RPM" -- due to the analog nature of the recordings, it can be pitched down to languorous BPMs; every tempo and pitch offering new vistas for home listening or (hopefully soon) dancefloor revelations.

Standards & Practices return with their second release this year, following the release of Krohn / Mjolsness's superb "Drummer" EP. The first proper Stave release since 2021's collaboration with Karim Maas on UVB-76, "Godless", "Saints No Drum" is a concise and definitive artistic statement from Jonathan Krohn that encompasses everything that made his previous releases so captivating, while taking his sound in exciting new directions.

"Drum 1 - 4" display a level of refinement and restraint rarely heard in modern electronic music, and there's a sustained atmosphere of brooding, simmering tension that's  simultaneously meditative and menacing. The interstitial tracks here ("Fred S", "Krohn / Schneider", "Squared Off", and the title track) add texture, depth, and nuance to a release that adds up to much more than the sum of its parts.

"AMBIDEXTROUS. The electro-plasticky sculptural sonic opera that invites you in & out & in again. Presented in first-person, at other times in third but ALWAYS out-of-body. Like a beat up stroboscope slamming into a Walt Disney number, raggedy abstracted cartoonish characters are pumped, plumped & squashed into the adhoc scenery. A tree is now a paint tube or maybe a shoe horn but only because it has to be until it isn't, or maybe it never will be for you. Very filmy, sometimes flimsy and on occassion chunky; presenting to you, actual variety. Definitely not a tidy digital affair...you can hear the tape bias deep breathing & hasty splices popping with an immediacy that does not waste time to tinker. Shattered bronze becomes the glue, the glue becomes your dinner companion as well as the plate & window seat. Not unlike a Goldilocks and the Three Bears scenario, depending on your moody attention span, you may find certain characteristics to be too something or not enough something but perhaps just right. Open for interpretation & again for re-interpretation - this monument gives what you take."
