It’s with great honour to release a Kudos LoKey remix of “Bridge of Roses” by Skysia.

I had the pleasure of meeting Skysia at Sonic Springs Festival and I am so moved my his musicality, sound design and his dreamy expression of bass music. We had a chance to hang in my studio and chat about production. 

In the spirit of exploration, I flipped the original version turning tom fills into baselines, adding loads of dynamic percussion where each sections steps up into the next, and its is now ready to super charge any ecstatic dance floor.

As I child, I was so moved but the energy of the vocals and the empowering message in The Power,  that I felt called to make a remix.

As time alignments work, I had a session booked with Vekked (a world champion turntablist) over to the Playhouse where we were planning on collaborating on something and after pulling up my remix and dropping him a few samples, he loading them up and stole the show - as he does.

Inspired by the desire to ground with Nature, I heard a beautiful clip of an eloquent speaker/artist/activist Madame Gandhi who evoked a feeling to create a dance floor soundtrack that would remind us to ReWild ourself with the power and medicine of natures presence.

SanduLa is an instrumental version of a remix I produced and been DJing all season. The ReMix is so fun with Snoop Dog, Craig Mack and O.T. Genasis mashups but some of my remixes have been taken down so the thought while there is still a few week left of summer, I'd release this instrumental version called as SanduLa.

My personal life has been going through many changes with moment of deep contemplation. The mood of Subterranean mirrors this imagery in where I’ve found myself deep in the bowels of earth with a window into the stars asking for guidance.

Dropped a new Kudos release for summer solstice called Forbidden Flute. 
Blending genres of tribal, electronica, folk, psychedelic and bass. 
I loved making this track!

Forbidden Flute is a playful college of organic instruments, digital sequences, a driving bassline, chopped up vocals and surprises from a wood flute and a duduk. 

This tracks is such an adventure, I am excited for you to experience.

Beautiful Mystery is my 7th release this year which I am really proud of as I feel I was able to capture a moment of tragic beauty with this one. 

Written during a time of deep heartache and grief along with a feeling of wonderment and mystery as when something dies a space is created for new possibilities. 

With chopped and pitched vocals, deep bass, earthy and liquid percussion, melancholic melodies, glitchy sound design and with one of my favourite instruments - the Duduk, Beautiful Mystery encapsulates so much of what I am trying to express as Kudos LoKey.

Honoured to work with some music by Incandescent who I've enjoyed witnessing develop their  unique sound and is an inspiration to many producers.

After first hearing Surface Tension, I was immediately drawn to the arp synth that appeared to me as the voice of the track with so much movement and personality. With little alteration, my approach with to use this layer and build my remix around it giving this voice a new landscape to exist in.

What came through is something I have never made before and illustrates why I love to remix so much. I am often motivated by the feeling of surprise and welcome the challenges of working with someone else's ingredients revealing something unexpected.

Kudos LoKey - CudaBird

Off of Morillo's "The Dub Cartographer" album, this is my remix of The Bizarre Bazaar which is a bass heavy blend of world bass and hip hop with a Kudos twist. I am thrilled of how it turned out and I can’t wait to drop it on a dance floor near you. 

What an honour to work with stems from Morillo who is easily one of my greatest musical influences.

Listen With Your Heart (Kudos LoKey ReMix)

I first heard this song in Thailand when I was getting a tattoo by Mr. Tung and within the 6 hours session we must have heard this track 6 times. When the track to this day, my spirit returns to that day in  Bangkok with Mr Tung. And who doesn't love Manu Chao?

I have never heard a remix of this track (surely there is) and this was an obvious choose as it also has no drums. I was recorded with a metronome so it was easy to start. As I got into this details of the original, I rediscovered my love for the magic in simplicity (which I am working on, promise).

Oh My how I love this track!
Timberland is a hug influence for me and one day I was singing this song and a friend of mine (Max aka Ankle Mix) mentioned that he had the accapella on vinyl! At a time when I was looking for a last song to remix, this was a no brainer and it all came together very quickly. Thank you Max!

Tweet (feat. Missy Elliot) - Oops, Oh My (Kudos LoKey ReMix)

Inspired with what I was learning at Producer Dojo, I applied some new techniques to make this highly texturized experimental hip hop track. I was definitely trying to get the attention ill.Gates and I hadn't ever made a track like this before. Used big 808 subs, sound design, this quirky synth/sampler called Organelle and some live percussion I recorded at my Playhouse Studio in Toronto. Stoked he liked it and that he later asked to add Synesthesia to The Class of 808 Volume 3.

His name was Jeff Parker (aka Jay Tripper) he was my friend and my graphic designer of 10 years. 
A true brother and a one of a kind human being. 

Jay had a pure and bright energy about him who saw the importance of bringing people together. His enthusiasm was contagious and he touched many hearts with his visual Art and Glitch Hop events.

In honour of his spirit, my goal was make a track that he would LOVE and feel proud to call "his".

Appreciating the challenge of trying something new, 
this is my first attempt at rapping and producing Glitch Hop.

Sorcerer

Drink My Tea was created for the Producer Dojo Cypher 21 challenge where we were asked to create a non-aggressive song with a folder we were given of teahouse samples recorded in Taiwan of; tea being poured, clinging tea cups, stringed instruments, flutes etc. No synths were allowed except for sub-bass and the results is a chilled out journey.

I often enjoy having restrictions when producing and this was a pleasure to birth.

Kudos LoKey is a Toronto based Producer/DJ, Multi-instrumentist and studio owner of Playhouse Studio. Known for his broad musical vocabulary and his unique Global Psychedelic Bass sound, mixing diverse stylings from Cumbia to Deep Dubstep, Hip Hop to House and Glitch to Downtempo while remaining true his first love, the Funk. With his bass guitar Snappy has performed on stages and festivals all over the continent with House of David Gang, Chameleon Project and Treasa Levasseur. And now summing all of his skills as an engineer, producer, performer, song writer and deep music lover, fusing lush soundscape textures with thick syncopated rhythms, live instruments, field recordings and treated samples.

As if George Clinton had a baby with Daniel Lanois with Carl Sagan was the godfather and Tipper was the babysitter  -  Kudos LoKey has been is born.
