Ecstatic Dance - The Way of Autumn - Bend, Oregon - 10/29/24

My closing set at our annual Maui mini festival "Microforest" on the Void Sound System. 

A personal journey through familiar spaces and newly discovered terrains that will continue to resound through my future sets. 

My intention was focused on elevating the energy of dancefloor with high percussive beats and suspended 808 drops. 

Transitioning to ambient at the end to close down the night whilst encouraging the homies to stay awhile and enjoy the lush forest space we all poured our hearts into creating.

Had the pleasure of meeting DTO at Lucidity Festival in 2018, where we connected over our shared passion for music production and the profound, transformative power of music to heal and move energy. We spoke about collaborating someday, and years later, DTO shared a track he had produced in 2024 that sparked a surge of inspiration in me to create a remix.

As a producer, what excites me most is the fusion of diverse sounds, rhythms, and cultures—bridging influences to create something innovative and fresh. The original track had so much richness and emotional depth, I couldn’t wait to dive in and explore what might emerge. Sometimes, the creative process feels effortless, as if the music is flowing through you, and this remix was one of those magical sessions where everything came together beautifully.
The original intro felt so inviting, almost as if it was opening doors of the heart. My intention was to build upon that, crafting a driving syncopated rhythm that could propel the listener into an ecstatic state of love, vibrancy, and kaleidoscopic color.

I am also deeply honored to have collaborated with such extraordinary talents on this project.
Reewa, an incredibly amazing vocalist from India 🇮🇳 , brought a powerful and soulful dimension to the music, while Egemen Sanli from Turkey 🇹🇷 contributed their brilliant musicianship, especially with the sitar and other additional instruments. Their artistry added an intricate and vibrant texture that elevated the remix to another level.

Experimenting with a new style, I am thrilled and deeply fulfilled with how this remix turned out.
I am profoundly grateful for DTO’s trust and openness, and I hope my remix of Distant Horizon resonates with your soul, touches your heart, and moves you as deeply as it has moved me.

Kudos LoKey is a Toronto based Producer/DJ, Multi-instrumentist and studio owner of Playhouse Studio. Known for his broad musical vocabulary and his unique Global Psychedelic Bass sound, mixing diverse stylings from Cumbia to Deep Dubstep, Hip Hop to House and Glitch to Downtempo while remaining true his first love, the Funk. With his bass guitar Snappy has performed on stages and festivals all over the continent with House of David Gang, Chameleon Project and Treasa Levasseur. And now summing all of his skills as an engineer, producer, performer, song writer and deep music lover, fusing lush soundscape textures with thick syncopated rhythms, live instruments, field recordings and treated samples.

As if George Clinton had a baby with Daniel Lanois with Carl Sagan was the godfather and Tipper was the babysitter  -  Kudos LoKey has been is born.
