MY TIME - HOH BEATZ

During the summer break of my third year,
I couldn’t seem to settle down.
I spent plenty of time with Ren,
but it was always under the name of
“Pair Test preparation.”
Just once, I wanted to do something
that wasn’t about studying.

That night, holding my phone tightly,
I sent him a message:
“Hey, Ren. Let’s do something summer‑like!”
The read mark appeared instantly—
of course, Ren replied fast.
“Summer‑like? Like what?”
“Fireworks, or the sea!”
“What about studying?”
“No studying talk allowed!”

After a pause, his message came:
“Okay. But where should we go?”
“You decide.”
“Then… how about the fireworks festival?”
I hugged my phone in delight.
“Perfect! When? What time?”
“Next Saturday. Six o’clock at the station.”
“I can’t wait!”

On the promised day,
I dressed up a little more than usual—
a new summer dress,
my mother’s favorite earrings.
I wondered if Ren would notice,
my heart beating faster.

At the station, he was already waiting.
His clothes looked like an extension of his uniform,
yet somehow, tonight they seemed special.
“You’re not late, right?”
“No, perfect timing.”
He smiled shyly,
then guided me through the crowd.

The festival grounds were alive with people,
but we found a quiet spot to sit.
When the fireworks burst across the night sky,
I couldn’t help but cry out:
“So beautiful!”
“Yeah. You always liked fireworks, didn’t you, Sao?”

I was surprised—
he remembered something so small.

When the fireworks paused,
Ren pulled a small paper bag from his pocket.
“I wanted to give you this.”
Inside was a simple silver bracelet.
“I make you study all the time…
so for summer, I thought I’d give you something different.
I figured it would suit you.”

“Ren… thank you!”
I slipped it onto my wrist—
it fit perfectly.
I kept looking at it, over and over,
until Ren, embarrassed, said:
“Don’t stare at it so much.
It feels weird.”
I laughed, answering only:
“I’m really happy.”

On the way home,
walking side by side,
I realized this summer day felt special
because Ren was beside me.

“Hey, let’s go somewhere again.”
“Sure—but we still have to study.”
“Oh, come on! You ruined the mood.”

I teased him,
while gently touching the bracelet.
I knew I would treasure it,
along with this summer memory,
for a long time to come.
